    The Argus - 1909

No 14, has supplied a copy of The Argus from 1909 after the Swans first Premiership for your perusal.

    1909:RoundGF - RWOwiki

If you look hard enough you'll find a 1933 article too.

I wish some journalists of today would take a good look.
    That was wonderful.

Brilliant. Any chance we can put newspapers from the other GFs (besides 1933 - I found that) on the Wiki?

Good work by Connolly there, well written.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

          A great read.
Too few occasions like this in our history.

Hoping to see another in the next few years...these 25 - 72 year gaps are a bit long.

Low scoring game, the league and media shouldnt blame Roos, it looks like the swans have played the same gamestyle since 1909.

Obviously accurate goal kicking was not an important requirement from a player in those days. Luke Ablett would have fitted in nicely.

I also noticed that St Kilda assummed their rightful place on the ladder.

"Bacquie got a free kick close in, and, as often happens, the cripple got the goal"
What's the chances of getting away with that 100 years later!!!!!!

What is most evident is the change in what people want from their newspapers. in 1909 there was no radio and no television, only the blow-by-blow eyewitness account by reporters from the ground. A thumping good read, but a writing style that is not called for in modern media. Kudos to 'No 14' for uploading it

Yes - overloaded with information today but without the quality. I prefer a piece of well crafted writing than twitter of quotes out of context. There's no colour or passion anymore (only on RWO). Maybe this should be bumped to the old persons thread....

On a serious note: that was a fascinating read. Thanks, No 14!

Maybe they should be the team for West Sydney?
