    Stop Cyber Bullying
No matter what your opinion is on my POV you've got to love this line.

"Furthermore, cyber-bullies might be emboldened when using electronic means to carry out their antagonistic agenda because it takes less energy and courage to express hurtful comments using a keypad or a keyboard than with one?s voice."

      I believe this occasionally happens.

I really don't imagine many of the players give a rats tossbag about what gets said on here, in fact most would have a good chuckle.

It's the families of the players who do it the toughest, reading vitriolic crap about their husbands/sons/brothers/uncles etc, even fathers in some cases.

We are a cross section of society and have our share of intemperate ratbags as well as sage commentators. We all know who falls into which category. The mods cut out the worst offenders, thankfully, so the place remains reasonably liveable.
As for scapegoating, it goes on here as elsewhere. Time tends to show who the real goats are.

I agree that having a family member whether a parent or sibling,it is quite distressing to be taunted about your son or bros efforts on the weekend. We need to be sensitive to these people when we write continual negative thoughts about a player, especially our so called "whipping boys".I know a lady who has rarely watches her son play at this level because of the banter that she hears abour her son who is a high profile player for a melbourne team. You can't blame her really.

It's worse when your husband(now ex) is an umpire!!! They get death threats and have their pet dog killed and left on the front door mat.

This is where many of us come to "vent our spleen", we have the right to do that. If relatives etc don't want to hear/see negatives about their family, they don't have to come here.

There is an advantage venting on R&W. We can be pretty sure that the recipients won't know. ....

Lucky those Beyondblue posters are displayed above the urinals at the SCG or Bevo might not know who to turn to in his hours of dispare.
