Another story today in the Daily Tele in Sydney on Shaw. I think this is the best story written about him so far.
And he's got man-love for Goodes! Nice.
Shaw said one thing he had really appreciated since arriving in Sydney was playing alongside Goodes. "I've played with an unbelievable player in Nathan Buckley over a long period of time, but to come up and see Adam Goodes first-hand, I don't think the AFL world realises how good he is,'' Shaw said.Comment

LMAO! Oscar...that's his nick-name for mine from now on. Thanks! You own it.I like him a lot too. I like the fact that his default facial expression is pissed off - maybe we should nickname him Oscar! - but apart from that, I also like him because he seems to be right there amongst it more often than not. Memories of 2009 will definitely include his bullet head running the ball out time and time again to find a teammate after an opposition point. He's not the only player guilty of a bit of hands-on-hips this season either.Comment

Good story. Plenty of Shaw, not too much journalist.Another story today in the Daily Tele in Sydney on Shaw. I think this is the best story written about him so far.
And he's got man-love for Goodes! Nice.He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

a number of times i've seen him gather the ball when he's already spent in the lungs, sprint 50 metres just on ticker and then kick long to advantage.
really hard football. if goodes did that...then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i knowComment

What was the unnecessary sting in the tail there re Goodes? An implication that a dual Brownlow medallist is not hard? That he has no ticker? Maybe you could reconsider that one?Comment

Yeah - I meant Oscar The Grouch. Gold is good but wouldn't like to be mistaken for meaning the Hollywood association... too much playing it up for the umpires creeping into the game as it is!
Great article Lucky Knickers! I wouldn't have guessed Kieren Jack "the angriest man in Australia", but love that Shaw says "...it's good to give a bit back and try to protect him...I'm really big on that. If somebody gets hit - if there's a cheeky behind play - I'll be the first one over there. I'm definitely not the toughest bloke around or the biggest bloke, but I'll definitely try to stick up for my mates.'' Awwww.Superman still wears Brett Kirk PyjamasComment
