    Brian Lake

Big news on SEN. Mark Robinson from the Herald Sun says the big mail is Lake is not talking to the Dogs and we have offered $600,000 and the Dogs are only at $400,000.

We are right at the top of his shopping list.

Are we allowed to approach a contracted player during the season?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Don't necessarily think we should be looking for an experienced pick up, but still back line looking like thsi would be pretty sweet:

      Smith Lake LRT
      Mattner Bolton Shaw
      Sanford Wheeler 4 President!

Could this mean Teddy on the trade table?
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

No no no no. Not an option.

BUT I do like Brian Lake as a Swan. We can hammer him in somewhere.

And I thought too that we couldn't approach a player. Perhaps they can talk to agents etc. Its all too high tech for me. Why can't we just say "You in?" and shake hands.

Leaked by his manager no doubt.

Exactly. A tried and true true ploy to get the original club upping the players' salary. Didn't take long for the Swans to get linked to it. Surprised it wasn't Wank Coast.

Why wouldn't the Hawks throw money at Lake, they need a key defender, they have cap space apparently from the ROK deal not going through and Lake would get to stay in Victoria.

                  It's always the Swans.

Well, Lake will be 28 next year. 4 good years. Him, Bolton, LRT, plus smith, mattner, and Shaw coming off the backline. The Swans for the top 8 next year, possible top 4

Would love to have Lake in the side, but unless it is via the PSD as un-contracted player then it is very unlikely we will give up our first pick or offer the Bulldogs anything they have not got already in some sort of player and later draft pick combo.

However saying all that, I would be a bit annoyed if we induced Lake to enter the PSD and shaft the Doggies, not really how we should be going about re-building the team.

That would be awesome if the Swans could poach Lake as our fullback and we should have some spare cash let in the cap from several retirements. However, the Doggies will most likely come up with a last-minute deal and retain his services.
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

Apparently Fev is unhappy at Carlton and we've offered him a million dollar contract he can't refuse!

                            Wait...or was that last year?

On a serious note, if we got him via PSD it'd be a steal! 28 next year, easily 4 years left and possibly 6 depending on how his body holds up. Backmen are one type of player that you can take a gamble on even if they're on the wrong side of 25.
