One issue, Hall now has nothing to do with the club and it's his decision as to whether he even wants to play football at all.

Therefore, the likelyhood of us of even bothering to broker a trade like this (it will be Hall + atleast a 2 round pick for Lake) is about as likely as Kirk captaining the first moon based AFL side in 2095.

I agree with this post.It doesn't take much to change the whole dynamic of the side. Some new red hot defender could be the catalyst. It puts Marty up on the wing ,takes the pressure off Bolton C. and makes our defense and centre line a different configuration. If this new configuration clicks and we don't get injuries,we could be a top 4 side next year.

Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think you can trade a player for a player. So if it was a Hall/Lake scenario it would be us offering Hall up for a draft pick and the same with the Dogs and Lake to a mutual advantage. Maybe this is why the Dogs are holding out on Lake having already spoken to Hall.

For mine Lake has had a very good season yet they have resigned 8 younger players this week. I think Robinson's scoops are close to the mark in that Lake is not talking to the Dogs. Robinson was quite adamant that it was us who is at the forefront to get him.

              ???

You're wrong. Perhaps you can't trade just a player for a player (I certainly haven't heard that, but I can't think of any recent examples of it happening), but you can certainly trade a player + draft pick for a player, so there would be no need for two trades like you're suggesting. And as I said before, the Doggies would need some incentive to trade rather than just letting him go to the PSD, so the Swans could chuck in a fringe player for a 3rd rounder or something.

I thought the only thing you can't do is a trade without a player involved (ie: a pick for a pick).

Sat next to Lake's neighbour at the game today. Said that there is no chance of Lake coming to Sydney.

Main reason being, his wife and Cooney's woman own a massive indoor play centre in Melbourne and are not going to give it up to move to Sydney.

                      re harley and luke ball

Hey I heard that Harley might be coming to the Swans or representing Sydney in some way or other after he has finished at Geelong

What is the story behind this ?

What is the deal with Luke Ball and also Luke Hodge ?

Having Hodgey and Ball in the side would be fantastic and would help with a key position player as Hodge can play forward and back

I'm sure the club is working on a suitable trade

Except that Hodge is not a KPP.

We wont be trading Goodes and the club is committed to keeping it's first two picks at least this year.

So stopping talking about who we are going to spend our was chest on this year, as it ain't going to happen.

Next year is party year! Watch the other 15 clubs go spaso as they try and trade their way up the drafting pick ladder to compensate for GC17's early picks.

The club knows that next year will be the smart time to go shopping with our massive cheque book.
