    Annoyed at C9 in Sydney

Channel 9 in Sydney were really on to a winner, they were using their HD channel to show the AFL Footy Show live and Footy Classifed live.

They have now moved the AFL Footy Show to near midnight on all their digital networks and Footy Classified which isn't available at all on the standard channel is now on near midnight on Monday night.

What the hell is the point of Nine having additional channels??

Seven have been showing AFL Game Day live on their HD Channel and I have my fingers crossed that they continue it.

I said it elsewhere, here we have WIN (country 9), they are currently rehashing their HD channel, I assume in an attempt to launch it properly with 24 hour programing (I assume that this will be happening nationally). Realistically, they are already running 2 digital channels, as are everyone else except 7, so it will be interesting to see what WIN/9 HD come up with for their fulltime programming.....and if Prime/7 will actually get their bums into gear and give us more than their trite progamming that they have to offer at the moment on just one channel.

The FTA's have already agreed as to what they will be showing on their HD multi channel services.

10 are doing sport on One HD.

9 are doing drama/soaps/celebrity and reality on GO HD

7 will be doing lifestyle (house, cooking, garden etc) on their yet to named or running HD channel.

What will probably happen is that in the future the 3 networks will share old content between themselves that fit onto their respective HD channels in terms of type.

Until 7 launch their new channel they are restricted by legislation to only show about 6 hours per day of different content from their main SD channel. This was the same set-up 9 and 10 had before they went live with their new HD channels.

I am not quite sure where this thread is going lol but the point of it was the bitch about Channel 9 spending all of 2009 showing Sydney the AFL Footy Show live on 9HD to only revert back to showing the Rugby League Footy Show instead for the past two weeks!

I rang channel 9 last Thursday to complain about the footy show no longer being shown live on HD and was given some spiel that now they have GO, they are temporarily unable to split the satellite between 9 and HD. They won't have a solution this season but hope to be able to split them again by next season.

Went straight over my head and sounded more like a crap excuse then fact but what do I know

Now that it's late it was on both SD & HD last time I looked.

^ That's a nice positive. Always annoyed me that 9 didn't show it on SD.

Something to do with bitrate and the fact to show the new SD channel GO!, and the Main channel in both SD and HD they can't split programming on the HD channel anymore, hence the AFL Footy Show and Footy Classified aren't shown on the HD Channel in Sydney at the same time its shown into the Southern States. Naturally the sudden move has pissed off people and Channel 9 moved to put Footy Classified onto the Main Channel in Sydney in both SD and HD at Midnight, so Sydney-siders can at least see it.

As for 7's second SD channel, talk was it was going to be repeats of their Lifestyle content, but now that has been expanded to included Australian Lifestyle, Drama, Docos, Comedy and Movies. So basically using up their Australian Content that is on the shelves.
