If someone posted a picture of McVeigh right now, it wouldn't fit on my monitor because of the smile involved.

I wonder what Jude is on these days?

Gonna be a cool draft to watch.
6 retirements and a few delistings.
we may get a 1/4 of a new list for next year.

I don't know whether there will be the need for de-listings, but who knows how the inner sanctum thinks at times.

        Every year there are delistings.
I would hope that just because of a few retirements that the club doesn't keep what it considers to be players who they would prefer not to have on the list.

I think i read earlier in the year that Malceski is out of contract at the end of this year. Gonna be interesting times for him.

Doubt it. It'd probably just be of the back of his head.

Just can't see us selecting more than 6 picks at this years shallow national draft.

If that is the case and we don't manage to land a couple of new players through trades then at most we will only see one or two de-listments at the end of this year if at all.

That will be Playfair for injury reasons and Brabazon as he aint up to it. MOD was close but looks like he had managed to get another year in the last 6 weeks.

I wasn't implying that we need to draft 9 or 10 new players.
That is obviously a big ask.
Even drafting 6 is a tall order.

I'd expect us to be heavily seeking some established players - probably 4 or 5 of them.
Then we'll draft 4 or 5 fresh players.

If we're looking at trading players, then we are gonna have to offer up some Swans.
Not that many out of contract players to pick up for free.

6 players retiring seems to free up a lot of spots but I presume that three of these will be filled by the elevation of Pyke, Thornton and Murphy. That leaves three (without any delistings). If Tadhg comes back that leaves 2 spots. Surely Brabazon is a monty to be axed which again gives us three. I think they'll keep Henry as word has it that they've welded the hammy back on to the bone and he'd running without pain. We need another big body who can go forward. Have they given DOK enough time? Who knows. He was a high pick (15?) but he was a surprise pick for many pundants. Laidlaw seems to show a bit when he plays and Schmidt has too much talent to axe. I don't think blokes like Bucky or Eski are in danger because you need experience amongst the kids.
Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.

                      I agree. Reg it is.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
