        The article says that it was the clay version (before it went to bronze casting) that was rejected. I'd bet on it being an updated Plugger statue that met with the approval of he who bankrolled the project.

                    New statue of Roosy to be cast in bronze

                    ....On the dias, taking the obligatory team shots, dabbing at the cut on his forehead with a nicely folded handkerchief.

                    Other thoughts of bronzing GF memories:
                    - Kirky on the ground writing in pain with cramp after taking a slips catch whilst goldstink yells at him;
                    - Judea Ben-Hur with the helmet;
                    - Goodes in the act of kicking a "rushed" point for the Eagles into the second tier of the Ponsford Stand;
                    - Me crying;
                    - Brent Staker, who did as much in the last quarter to contribute to us winning as any one player.

                      Wouldn't be Plugger would it? Surely not after the Saints Hall of Fame induction the other week?

                        I wouldn't rule it out.

                        The thing about these statues is they are more about sportsman who set the SCG alight, as opposed to greats of the Swans.

                        Plugger certainly fits that criteria, kicking the all-time record winning goal at the SCG etc.

                          Could well be Plugger, but the original they made of him was silly, had him looking off into the distance as he was dropping the ball onto his boot - no way, no how, nup.

                          I wouldn't be surprised to see the iconic Paul Kelly climb above the pack, one knee onto the shoulder of Dunks (I think) eyes, head and arms raised to take the mark - great Christo picture.

                            Why should that have any impact? He was a champion of St Kilda and it is natural that they would want to honour him for that. It in no way lessens the contribution he made to the Swans, or how that contribute should be viewed.

                              its going to be Baz!!! (sorry I couldnt resist - but imagine the hoo har that would cause!!!!!)

                              nah - I think it will be between 3, either Lockett, for the 1300 goals, or Barry Round seeing as he was the first Sydney captain or Paul Kelly, basically for just being the sydney version of Bobby Skilton - a long stretch perhaps, but hey its just a guess. we will know for sure on the day!

                              would be piss funny if it was Capper - at least they wouldnt need to use an excessive amount of bronze in the shorts area!
                              I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

                                I think Capper would argue that you would need an extraordinary amount of bronze for that particular area of the body.
