He is an AA full forward. They don't grow on trees.
We will be or should be pushing for a premiership in 3-4 years, he will fit into that perfectly.

Anyone who wants us to stack the team with kids, and kids only, should follow Melbourne. Bottoming out isn't the answer and rarely works.
No he won't, he will be 32 and well past his best. Not sure how that constitutes fitting in perfectly. To say we will be "pushing" for a flag isn't good enough. If we were to recruit Fev, we would have to KNOW that we will have a serious flag tilt before he retires. That's the only reason we would want to recruit a 29 year old. How sure are you that we will be a top 4 side again in 3 years?

Fevola's best position is at FF, so is White's. Only one can play there, and obviously the coaches will go with Fev, meaning White will have to be played out of position. How is that not going to hinder his development? The best way for a player to develop is to play their natural position. You don't develop a small forward in the ruck, and you don't develop a FF at CHF. And if White did go to CHF, where does that leave Johnstone and Currie. To say Fevola won't hinder the development of youngers players is simply wrong.

We won't be stacking the side with kids next year. We will still have Goodes, Kirk, ROK, both Bolton's, Mattner and Shaw in the side who are all 28 and over next year. We also have a few players in the 24-27 age bracket like LRT, Bevo, Seaby, Teddy and McVeigh. That's 12 players in our best 22 who are 24 or over. So how would we be stacking our side with kids if we don't recruit Fevola?

You should look at how weak your arguments are before you have a go at others. The only thing in your post which is even close to being true is that AA full forwards don't grow on trees.

If Jolly is keen to go and Roos and others are willing to trade, dont we still need a similar type Ruck. If Carlton want Jolly and Barlow and Collingwood want Fevola
        Jolly & Barlow to Blues
        Fevola to Collingwood
Sydney get Hampstead and pick 14 plus possible third round

Leaving Fevola aside, you would think that picks 38 and 39 look destined for the Mumford and Kennedy trades if we can pull off deals with the other clubs.

We would replace the third round picks by moving up with pick 14 for Jolly, giving us three picks inside the top 30.

If we end up landing Mumford and Kennedy and don't lose anyone in those deals then 3 picks might be about all we need to use to balance the books player wise on the senior list.

It was on the morning news here too (which is rare)- I still reckon he would be good for us.
You could guarantee that his contract would be so strict (almost over the top when Kirk and Roos are involved) and you never know, coming to Sydney might just be the making of him! Yes he's a tool, but he's a bloody talented one.
At the end of the day its footy for christ's sake, its not the Anglican Church division of the June Dally Watkins school of deportment and social graces.

I would rather we have a damned good chance of getting to the finals with a forward with Fev's experience and accuracy than rely on the young shoulders of Jesse White.

White is a kid with loads of potential and he could learn a thing or two from Fev whilst playing with him, but as we have seen in the past, when a heap of expectation is put upon someone so young, and they dont meet that expectation, the poor kid only has to have two poor games in a row and he will be crucified on forums such as this.

Despite him being an epic tool.

Was reported on SEN this morning that Sydney has offered Fevola a 4 year contract and that if we secure the trade to the Woods for Jolly and his wife, then 14 ontraded to Carlton for Fev.

A 'credible' source texted it in, so probably pure speculation.

Realfooty this morning suggested Fevola's wife has said no to the Sydney move so maybe

Pick 38 to Geelong for Harley's wife - to Sydney and swap Jolly's wife to Geelong for there 3rd round pick, then swap our 4th round and Matthew Laidlaw for....

                    Oh damm that won't work

There are many ways to be a dickhead

All of the "dickhead" discussion above focuses on the off field stuff which I agree is both disgraceful and repeated and while people are happy to say that doesn't matter when you play good footy or kick 80 goals it makes a hell of a difference if it makes you lose a million dollar sponsor which is entirely possible these days.

More to the point though what about the on field stuff. Fev will simply give up at times when things don't go his way and would be second only to Barry Halll for giving away stupid free kicks and 50 metre penalties when frustrated. On numerous occassions Fev has been benched for these issues at some period for full quarters and I think once for about half the game.

Whether we have a no dickheads rule is largely irrelevant, that stuff is selfish and detrimental to the team as a whole.

So he breaks his contract. what happens then. We've lost a high draft pick for a sacked player. Brillant.

I'm of the crazy school of thought that the swans should get the best players in we can. Brendan fits this bill.

                                Strange I know.
