actually to be honest i thought our last month to six weeks was pretty decent. And we seemed to have some decent young players coming through. And it reminded me a little of 1995 when we were pretty competitive often but for one bad quarter and which led into 1996 - or 2002 when we were pretty competitive but couldn't quite win - which led into 2003. Both (with the exception of 2005 only because we won it) were my favourite years because we played some breathtakingly good footy both seasons.

"So if we get Fev and he kicks a bag of goals for us you wont be applauding then?"
Sure I will. But I'll also be annoyed if he destroys the unity of the team, loses us a sponsor or means we have wasted a first round draft pick.
I can't recall a professional sporting team that appears to play for each other as much as the Swans. Having someone go against that with selfish bull@@@@@ can undermine that bringing the whole group down.Comment

So you have condemned him already - excellent!I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

He will be either 31 or 32. That is hardly past it, especially for a full forward.
To say we will be "pushing" for a flag isn't good enough. If we were to recruit Fev, we would have to KNOW that we will have a serious flag tilt before he retires. That's the only reason we would want to recruit a 29 year old. How sure are you that we will be a top 4 side again in 3 years?
Try to understand that he will go along way to helping us push for a Top 4 spot and therefore give us a chance at the cup.
The best way for a player to develop is to play their natural position. You don't develop a small forward in the ruck, and you don't develop a FF at CHF. And if White did go to CHF, where does that leave Johnstone and Currie. To say Fevola won't hinder the development of youngers players is simply wrong.Wrong on so many levels. Many ruckman start in a forward pocket first. Many midfielders start as small forwards or defenders.
Currie is a ruckman. Just because he is a strong mark and plays forward occasionally in the reserves, doesn't make him a career CHF. Before you have a go at others about playing people out of position, at least get your own facts right.
As for Johnstone, he has a long way to go in his development. Starting with recovering from a very serious injury, putting on muscle, playing a full season in the reserves then being introduced to the Seniors. Fevola won't affect this.
We won't be stacking the side with kids next year. We will still have Goodes, Kirk, ROK, both Bolton's, Mattner and Shaw in the side who are all 28 and over next year. We also have a few players in the 24-27 age bracket like LRT, Bevo, Seaby, Teddy and McVeigh. That's 12 players in our best 22 who are 24 or over. So how would we be stacking our side with kids if we don't recruit Fevola?
I didn't have a go at anyone? I just stated that I think the arguments against are weak. Specifically regarding yours, I think they are more hysterical.Comment

We just got rid of Hall , "because he was a risk"...supposedly.
For him, we got a paultry late 3rd round pick and are apparently also dropping down the list with another swap to be confirmed.
Why would we then replace Hall with another risky player, all be it more off field than on (though he does plenty of stupid selfish acts on the field also), and give up a first round pick in the process.
I'd much prefer to stick with the rebuilding of a youngish team, as we saw in the last 4 or 5 games.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

Now if only Fevola would find a club that has a track record in reforming so called bad eggs then all would be sweet...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

Not condemning him, merely assessing the risks. This isn't a free trade it'll cost us a pick and/or player we'd otherwise rather keeep. Is it not correct to consider the pros and the cons of any trade? Surely the track record means the risks are huge?Comment

Not sure how he would 'deliver us from evil'...didnt do much to stop the Blues collecting spoons.
As soon as the Blues look like they might do well - they want to turf him. It doesnt add up.
Dont mind if he comes for a rubbish pick, but I think we're sacrificing our future to bring him in. Much rather punt on a young player.
Agree with Scottie. I'd cheer his goals the same way I did with Baz, but I'll be cheesed off if he gets suspended, drops his bundle, etc. He's (in)famous for a few more things than kicking goals.
Better for the team short term to have Goodes in the mid, but better for Goodes long term to play up front. We've got enough senior players around too so no thanks to Fev.
Agree that its too early to place Johnston at CHF, but then he could pinch hit there when Goodes has a spell.
We'd be better off with Lake or just keeping a second 1st rounder. He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment

SEN is reporting that Swans are offering Fev a four year deal. Using pick 14 that they hope to get for Jolly.Comment

disappointed. if true.Comment

I'm not usually one to fire off angry emails to the club but I will in this instance if true.
It's also galling that Roos has played the media like a cheap violin, going into trade week a) knowing Jolly wanted out and b) that we would be able and willing to trade for Fevola, yet giving totally contradictary and misleading statements in the lead up."As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk
