We always seem to get shafted at the trade table, whether paying over the odds for players from other clubs or letting players go cheaply... it's annoying but not a lot you can do if a player wants out. Bloody relieved O'Keefe re-signed in the end last year, otherwise it's a heck of a lot of experience to lose in little more than a season. And yeah 14 and 46 is a joke.

And lot's of delistings IIRC you must use all picks
C/wood have given their first and third rounds, so they have given a fair amount. It's reasonable not great
We have traditionally traded pretty fairly with one another
Now for Mumford...?..?.............?You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby ZieglerComment

Fair deal. I would have said 14 + a minor player.
So it's a 1st round pick and a 3rd round pick. My guess is that gives us more picks to on-trade.
177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

I presume clubs are working the phones instead.
They all get together again on Friday.
The source for the story must be reasonably good but we should wait for official word from either club. Hopefully there is something else to this deal!"As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk

First + third round pick isn't SO bad but the bargaining position is never the same when a player wants to leave. I thought we should have pushed for a player instead of a third-rounder, we have so many picks it's going to be a VERY young list next year!Comment

Positively at least we've got rid of Jolly early enough in the week to now put full focus on getting Kennedy and Mumford in the Red and White.Official Driver Of The "Who Gives A @@@@ As The Player Will Get Delisted Anyway" Bandwagon.

Not any more. They changed the rules a year or two ago to facilitate clubs finding surplus players with little draft currency a home, rather than making them sit through to the draft - the "human side" of this cattle trade. The Corrie, King and Charlie Gardiner trades were examples of this.
But as Des points out, we'll probably look to trade some of these on. If the Hawks have rejected a 3rd round pick for Kennedy, maybe they'll accept two instead (though no doubt they'll try to insist on pick 28). If they get Burgoyne, they'll stick be picking at that point in the draft - even if they don't they will be given they've already traded away their second and third round picks.
IF this is the final deal for Jolly it is a shame. Surely we could have held out for pick 30, with a third round pick back to the Pies?
Guess Roos just wants to get on with his life...Comment
