    The Eagles Finished Above Us?????

    Check the ladder people,

    11 Team West Coast 22 8 14 0 1893 2029 93.31 32
    12 Team Sydney 22 8 14 0 1888 2027 93.15 32

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worst, this happens.

Wake me up when the 2010 season starts.

This ladder is now more important.

    Draft order:
    1. Melbourne
    2. Melbourne
    3. Richmond
    4. Fremantle
    5. North
    6. Sydney
    7. Eagles.
    8....

Eh, big deal. We get a higher draft pick then them now

Plus we remain one of only two teams to have not finished in the bottom 4 since the inception of a 16 team competition, the other being Geelong. Makes for better bragging that your team doesn't bottom out like everyone else and still wins premierships :-)

Just looked into my crystal ball....

I can see in 3 years time that Draft pick number 6 kicking the winning goal after the siren in the Grand Final after a free kick given away by Draft pick Number 7.

..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

Considering that we had a relatively good finish to the season (albeit without winning) , I was actually quietly happy to drop another spot on the ladder and receive a higher draft pick.

In a funny kind of way we had a win/win end to the season.
We played VERY well (except V Wobblers), got the kids big match experience and finished with a higher draft pick.

With a little bonus along the way of helping a kindred interstate team to a home final!

I copped a "we finished higher than you on the ladder" last night, to which my silencing reply was "at least we get a better draft pick than you"!!

                Thank Krishna for small mercies.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I'm on the 'principle of the thing' team rather than the 'higher draft pick' team, not least 'cos of the Pick 6 Cursed thing (see other thread).

But what is truly spooky is not just the tiny percentage margin (again) between us but the fact that we kicked almost identical scores for and against through the year. Wait a minute: they beat us by 3 points in 2009. That means we can finally call the ledger absolutely square after the 2005 and 2006 grannies (+4 -1 meant we finished 3 points up).

Some things were meant to be.

My feelings exactly. Close losses to Saints, Geelong and Lions (all in the eight) and with luck all three winnable and our finish has been good. Leaves something there to look forward to.

Better than good we probably would of scrapped into the 8 if we won those 3! Who cares now though, i too am glad we dropped a spot on the ladder for a higher draft pick, looking forward to hopefully a big recruiting/trade period over the off season.

If we only miss one finals campaign in every seven, I'm not too concerned who finishes above us that one year!

Weren't we on another thread congratulating ourselves on being noice and not having any deep seated animosity towards anyone? Angels all? Glad to see we do have a deep rooted rivalry and i Heartily Concur! Its ALMOST worth beating them on principle and getting a worse draft pick than having them beat us at anything. Just as well they are "over there" and we are "over hear". Why I orta.....

only bad if you have ladder position bets at the start of the season...especially with an eagles supporter.
