Dennis Carroll back at the Swans

Unfortunately not coming off the back flank, but as a Welfare & Player Development Manager.

Can't get onto the official site, so please excuse the lack of a link to that. It was posted at their facebook profile - Facebook

Always good to see club legends playing a part after their career is over.

This pleases me big time. I think they got this one right.

      From the Swans site:

Carroll joins the Swans - Official AFL Website of the Sydney Swans Football Club

?It wasn?t an easy decision to leave City Ford given that I have been with them for 20 years,? Carroll said.

?But after a considerable amount of thought and knowing the Swans is where my true passion lies, I decided this role was for me and I genuinely believe I can make a true difference."

      This is great news.

But Dennis ... I was going to buy a new car!!!!

Good news. Back at home where he belongs.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

A wonderful club servant comes back into an official role....

But, another job for the boys.
"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.

If you want to go for the 'glass half full' approach you could say that makes sense as he knows the unique culture of the Swans and will be immediately more effective than someone from another club who may or may not turn out to fit in.

Imagine having a job that is also your passion and priority! Can't remember who it was that said "If you love your job you'll never work a day in your life again". Or words to that effect.

Trust you Bear to throw a spanner into the cogs.

And why not a job for the boy? Hasn't he proven himself more than capable of very successfully running a heavy duty business. He started from scratch after leaving the Swans. Wouldn't you want such a man involved with this particular job? I do.

We have already had experience with personnel who have no idea of what the Swans are about and look at the mess left behind. I would much rather "internal" promotion in this instance.
