Let's go back to just after last year's Best and Fairest. It's very early October 2008. It has just been announced on the Fox/cable program "On the Couch" via Gerald Healy that Ryan O'Keefe is leaving the Swans. At the same time Rhyce Shaw still is on the Pies' player List, with no indication that he is going anywhere.
Move ahead about 50 weeks. What odds would you give that in 2009, the Sydney Swan's Best and Fairest would be Ryan O'Keefe, and second place would be Rhyce Shaw?Comment

Thanks for your second innings Primmy - another good read. And in view of the mixed reactions to John Longmire's appointment it is very reassuring to note this bit and recall how Paul Roos came to be appointed. He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. Good night. But seriously, they need to have a look at how the votes are awarded. Just so random. Up to 50 votes for as many players as they want?? Come on. In some games there was 14 or more players receiving votes. In others, 6 or less. Way to incionsistent and way to open for "interpretation" by those voting.
