It wouldn't surprise me if Tadhg's success gets mentioned at the Charlie tonight.

Maybe not - but we'll see.

He'll be back. Maybe not to play, but he wants to live (and teach) in Sydney.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

            Swans congratulate Tadhg

There was an Australian contingent cheering him on. Coach Paul Roos, his wife Tami, forward scout George Stone and his wife Penny, as well as former teammate Jared Crouch and Tadhg?s Australian partner Nicole Noonan were amongst the 82,286 crowd.

?The atmosphere was amazing, the game was unbelievable and it is just great that we could be here to support Tadhg and now enjoy some of the celebrations with him,? Roos said following the match.

I love it how every article about Tadhg that features comments from the club include statements that Tadhg's future is ENTIRELY UP TO HIM, and it is HIS CHOICE and there's NO PRESSURE to make up his mind.

Sounds like a bit of not-so-subtle "Hey, we let you go back to fulfil your dream, so how's about you come back for a couple of seasons to help us out" going on there.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Whether or not Tadhg comes back, the fact he has achieved this goal means he can look back with no regrets on his AFL career. Had he left it too late to go back, either because he was past it physically or because Kerry wasn't a strong enough team during the short window he'd have left himself, there might always have been nagging regrets.

Would be interesting to know the impact Kennelly has had on his Kerry team tactically. The match commentators discussed how organised and methodical Kerry were, compared both to Cork and to earlier Kerry teams, which relied more on a few stars. Tadhg himself commenting before the game on how much better drilled AFL players are than Gaelic footballers (he talked about "scenarios") and after the game he spoke about how Kerry didn't panic when they were blitzed in the first ten minutes, but rather had confidence in their systems.

It seems quite likely that some of this was down to Kennelly bringing back a degree of professionalism from his time in Sydney.

Yes! THough I actually thought he was referring to the time after his father died.

I guess we all hear different things.

I was sure he was talking about the cost of potatoes.

Well done Tadgh. A great effort.

Without taking anything away from him, statistically the odds weren't too shabby - it was Kerry's 36th triumph. That's nine for every one of ours....
