    Andrew Lovett

Apparantly Lovett has departed from the Bombers ( at Essendond's request) and has listed Sydney as an option for going forward in his career.
He can play an exciting brand of footy but I don't think we want a player with his baggage in our club. His off field behaviour leaves something to be desired.

We've rehabilitated quite a few troubled souls over the years. Why would Lovett be any different?

They may have! Depends whether they got caught or not. In this era of political correctness a famous role model person like an AFL footballer has to be reasonably squeaky clean with their private life.I don't agree with this ,I think it is akin to Big Brother and Moral /thought police similar to the Inquisition of the middle ages.Today they symbolically burn you at the stake.
Having said that ,it is a reality today and until we go back to just judging a footballer on football,we better leave Lovett alone!

If Hall was having breakfast with Knights ??? Roos did think last year that they could sort out Lovett and his issues! Oh dear, that would be strange, they both have hittiing issues. Not happy that if Hall was pressured to leave that we would be jumping into a hot seat as his trade...

Lovett - Hall swap. No doubt. Maybe Hall plus a fringe player. Someone like Lovett would be awesome for us. His speed, skill, etc is what we need. With him we could will definately be competing for a top 8 spot next year. Need another key forward though.

                He wouldn't be.

If anything can sort him out, it's Kirk, Goodes and the Bloods culture, combined with the relative anonymity of Sydney.

If they do we'll gain a skillful midfielder with speed and aggression that can push forward or back. The on-field indiscretions are a bit of a worry, but I sometimes think that behaviour is not just tolerated but actually encouraged at Essendon (esp. under Sheeds).

I'm thinking a 3-way swap with Port sending Burgoyne to Essendon. Hall can go live in Adelaide for a while. That's justice for walking out on us mid-season.

He wouldn't fall through to us in the PSD. Don't think his salary demands will be excessive and can't see any reason why any of the five clubs ahead of us would pass on him unless there are more attractive tidbits on offer.

If the Bombers are seriously interested in Hall, he could be a useful pawn in a trade for Lovett. He's probably worth closer to our 2nd round pick on his own than our 3rd, but throw Hall into the equation and we might be able to hang onto our 2nd round pick if we want him, especially if clubs like the Dees would consider picking him up for nought if he went into the PSD.

From a playing style POV, Lovett would be a great addition to our midfield. He might have some work to do convincing Roos he genuinely wants to come here though, after last year's talks.

I thought it fell through last year because Essendon wanted ROK and wouldn't budge from that?

Don't think it ever got that far. Roos said on about Wednesday of last week's trade week that they had formally ended their interest in Lovett because Lovett didn't appear to want to come to Sydney.

Ok. Well he no doubt wanted to stay at Essendon, so of course would say then that he doesn't want to go to Sydney (or anywhere else) to pressure the Bombers into persisting with him.

But now that option is no longer available, so now there's noises that he may be partial to the move.

He is a risk, but his best is really good, as evidenced in the first half of this season. It's a worthwhile risk for us if it only costs us a player that was leaving anyway.

Oh joy... "The Bloods culture" argument and the Swans and their magical ability to reform "Bad boys".....

It's going to be a long, long off season.

How about we just draft the best talent out there and try to win a few more games next year than we did this year??? How's that for a unique trading strategy??
