    The Swans are ugly, right???

Did you see that game? The one where the score was a lowly 60-53? The ones where both sides scratched and scrambled for a clean possession? The one where both sides manufactured to have a spare man behind the ball at times? The one where the commentators said there were over 20 boundary throw ins alone in the last quarter? The one where defensive pressure was the big thing and large packs were constant?

I did - and it was a cracker. But is the Melbourne media denouncing it as bad for football, or is that slug Demetriou calling it ugly? I don't think so.

    Screw them.

Very ugly - there's no way a team could win the flag playing cynical football like that !!

I was thinking the same thing last night. It is obviously the way you need to play to get to the top.

Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

It wasn't boring, but I was glad it was low scoring affair.

Same thoughts crossed my mind last night. It was fought out and it was not a slog, it was two teams who were "that" close in every area. Its awfully silent south of the border on boring games isn't it.

I have always contended that the comments made in the past were by people who had not exactly watched any games north of the border.

Agreed! Clearly Ross Lyon had a massive influence on our game plan and our premiership run! Well done to him and i hope the Saints go all the way!

My heart was almost stopped at times and because I wanted both teams to win I was on an emotional rollercoaster.

I was trying being facetious , I thought that was what the theme of this thread.

It was a great game and the whole time I was thinking it was Swans like.

Shame about the Dogs, I was really keen on a Dogs V Pies GF.

I wasn't, because the Pies would have beaten them. Can't stand Geelong, but I hate GFs where there's a risk of a Collingwood premiership, so I hope the Pussies win tonight. Would have loved a Dogs/Saints GF as either one winning would have been a good story, but alas it couldn't happen.

I was yawning a bit - but only because I was watching it after working all night then getting only two hours sleep.

Yeah, it was a classic finals encounter of hard contested footy. I didn't hear one negative comment from the commentators about the numbers around the ball or the number of stopages...funny that
Or any reference to the similarity in style to the great Swans side of 05/06.

That is absolutely the way you need to play to get to the top. I seriously did not know who I wanted to win in the last quarter, perhaps because both sets of fans have been so starved of success, and having been there before I knew what they must have been feeling. Dennis summed it up best: "Between them, 98 years of futility". Fantastic call in the absence of Bruce, one of his best ever I thought. I cannot think of any other sport in the world where my heart rate can rise like that during a game where I don't support either team, but I loved it!

There were far too many seagulls on the ground for my liking flooding the back half.
