From the linked article :
"The Listowel native has now confirmed his commitment to the Kingdom and said: 'I am committing (to Kerry). I had a great time at Sydney. I haven't really thought about it at the moment, but I will sit down and have a good think about it."
Really Taigh? Are you sure about that? You are committing, at some point, after you've thought about it, maybe?
The manager is equally mysterious:
"Kerry fans will also be lifted by the news that manager Jack O'Connor intends to remain in his role.
'You're mad to retire me, lads. I'm a bit impulsive. I'm a man of my word. I took the job for two years so I'll stay for two anyway,' he told the Irish Times."
Is he impulsive (usually taken to mean changeable and given to sudden changes of heart) or is he a man of his word (usually taken to mean sticking to an agreed course of action despite changes in circumstance)?
He took the job for two years, and he'll stay for two anyway - so normally taking the job for two years would mean what? That he'd probably only stay for one?
Australian tourist lost in Ireland: "Can you tell me how to get to Dublin?"
Irish local: "I can but you don't want to be starting from here."
In another report Kennelly stated that playing Aussie Rules was such a physical challenge, the pre-season, the training , getting over each game to prepare for the next one, he was most uncertain if he could go through it all again.
He was outstanding to heve, best now to give his place to a 20 year old.
HP
"He was proud of us when we won and he was still proud of us when we lost' Tami Roos about Paul Sept 06.
So how long will it take for him to make up his mind? I mean he was banging on for a couple of years about how he wanted to go back, then he does it, the club have bent over backwards for his wants/needs. I like the lad I really do - but surely he should be given a close off date for decision making so as the club can get the wheels in motion for next season. Its harsh I know, but he had got his way - now the least he can do is decide yes or no sooner rather than later - then everyone can move forward.

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

We all seem to have missed the vital point. Tadgh is Irish. Anything could happen when coupled with a pub, winning his dream game, lots of singing, more pub, hero status, pub, hangover. He'll tell us one day. In the future. Christmas sounds nice.

oooh dear I'm leaving that one alone - the last time I made a comment on the Irish, I got a nasty PM from some Irish person in Perth.

You cant expect him to make his mind up in the few days following him achieving his ultimate sporting goal.
Hes probably finding that at the moment his heart is saying stay but given a few weeks with the euphoria dying down and he might realise that in the cold light of day he is better off earning 300k plus a year in sydney as well as having a happy girlfriend who can be at home.

But what about the deadlines the club has to meet re the various draft periods etc? - that is what I'm saying - he needs to make a decision by a certain dates.

Agree but thats a month away isnt it , the articles are quoting him in interviews done almost straight after the game. Its no wonder hes giving a lot of double speak.
What I reckon hes really saying in the quotes is " At this time my heart is saying stay at Kerry but after I have had a bit more time to think about it , that may change".
Imagine the outrage by swans fans if the day after winning the 05 grand final , he was quoted in the papers as saying "that was great thanks and now Im going to head back to Ireland".

Fair enough - I just feel that the club has accomodated his every desire thats all - for all we know he may have said he wanted to go back after the '05 grandfinal (definately after the '06 one I reckon )

First list lodgement is not until the 31st of October 2009, so he has plenty of time.
In fact he could remain on the list until after the 31st of October and we could remove him after that to particpate in the PSD if we wanted or needed to.
