Just came back on because tv was ordinary. Now I will have to go and dust off Mick's 300th and join you.....bye.

Looking back at Mick's 300th more dispassionately, just want to comment on what a good game it was - exciting passages indicating heaps of potential for 2010

Biggest suprise: MOD carving it up in the one's. I wrote him off after watching him in the reserves (couldn't hit a barn door) but he was awesome.

Special mention to LRT for taking his game to another level too.
How could I forget about Matty!

I had a little chat to him at the B & F and told him how thrilled I was with how he had stepped up as I am a ressies follower. He laughed and said he knew he had to do it or it would be the end of the road so he went for it. He's such a lovely boy, I hope the determination stays and he becomes a permanent fixture in the team this year.

          Most Improved: Smith

It's a known fact that I said last year to delist him. At the time he was lacking something, it could have been the confidence to go to the next level, but boy did he grab it this year and he outplayed a number of players.

I personally think if he stays injury free next season and continues with his form, he'll be in our Top 10 come B&F time.

Surprised: Grundy (that he learnt how to take marks - though the kicking still makes me shudder at time).

Biggest improver: three here, White, Grundy & Smith. Just shows what settling guys into permanent spots for longer periods can achieve

Biggest disappointment: three here, Hall - enough said, Kennelly/Fosdike going after the draft, Murphy who I was told could have been a gun

Biggest surprise: three here, Hanneberry who isn't in proper training and still at school shouldn't be showing so much, Pyke who should never have progressed so far so soon, congrats to LRT who this year looked a cool class rebound key defender

Grundy has always been an excellent mark of the ball as anyone who watched his 2-3 years apprenticeship in the twos would tell you. His issue in his senior games as a forward was more knowing where to go to get the ball, especially in a forward line containing Hall and O'Loughlin.

Although he is carving out a niche for himself as a backman, I still think he might later swing forward with success. Just as mids often start out as taggers to teach them where to run to find the ball, sometimes a forward can learn how to better play forward by time spent playing on the other forwards.

You're right about the marking, I realised after I posted it, I meant what you put above, before he seemed out of place in terms of knowing where to look for the ball and that affected his decision making when he got the ball. He's definitely fixed the first one up, the second is the one that still needs a bit of improvement, though he's improved to what he was like a year ago.

Grundy was expected to go top 10 in the draft (2004 or 2005.can't remember) and it was a shock that he wasn't taken at all.Best thing our recruiters have done in a while was grabbing him as a rookie. The boy could always play,he just needed a chance to prove so and he certainly did in 2009.Hopefully he will be able to follow up next year as some blokes have trouble backing up after their first good season.

Biggest suprise was Rhyce Shaw hehad fantastic year and exceeded all expectation with how well he played

biggest disapointment was Patty V i was really excited at the beginning of the season i was gonna put money on him for the rising star. Unfortunately injury held him back lets all hope he has a big pre season and a cracking year 2010

there are lots of good improvers this year, MOD Smith Grundy White with no real stand out
