    Swans Draw 2010

Post news like below as we hear snippets of the draw release.

BARRY Hall can start preparing for a return to his former home ground with news the Western Bulldogs will meet the Sydney Swans twice in 2010.

The AFL will officially release next year?s draw on October 30, with clubs having been sent a draft earlier this week.

Why has it taken so long this year? Gets later and later each year.

It was roughly same time as last year. What they do now is wait for Trade Week and make adjustments as maybe required i.e Brisbane will play Carlton twice now etc.

Because they have to wait until after Trade Week, the TV networks and Clubs don't get the first draft until mid October, meaning it takes another two weeks to finalise.

          Adelaide

According to the Adelaide Advertiser today, in the provisional draws received by the Adelaide clubs, neither the Crows or Port will play games in Sydney in 2010. I assume that means the Swans will have to travel to the City of Churches twice in 2010?

Cool, so can we play the Eagles and Dockers in Sydney?

Hope so - loved my trip to Adelaide last year and 2 would be better next year.

But was also hoping for a first time trip to Perth.

They had to wait for Eddie to approve it.

Looks like (surprise surprise) we play St Kilda in Rd 1 - source: http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/rfn...891774403.html

I can only assume we'll also play Geel, Coll and Bris in the last 3 rounds for the third year in a row as well.

It staggers me that the AFL need complex Canadian fixturing technology when half the 'draw' is locked in anyway and barely changes from year-to-year.

They may as well just be done with it and have exactly the same fixture every year and end the charade that their is any randomness or variance to it.

As it is, the reigning premier is scheduled to play Essendon in round one on Friday night at the MCG, with St Kilda playing the Swans in Sydney.

At least it is in Sydney, so we Melbourne folk don't have to suffer through the arrogant Aints wankers.

                        Indeed summary so far.....

                        We travel to Adelaide twice
We play Doggies twice --> ACT/Sydney
The top three only play each other once
Opening 'blockbuster' (ho hum) Geelong vs Bombers

I presume we will play most of the top eight twice again...and travel to the Shell Scum Stadium as usual

How can this competition be serious when the draw is just so imbalanced? There is no attempt to even out the draw under the auspices of "everyone wants to play Collingwood" and all the other blather...this team has to have this fixture and so on.

The AFL says every team has requests and they cannot keep everyone happy!

Stuff special requests and keeping teams happy, how about a fair draw?

The matches were supposed to even out over a period but this seems to have dropped off entirely now.

Also might be a chance of FTA coverage too if St Kilda are playing?

It seems too easy to organise for the wankers at AFL HQ. All it needs is for every team to play each other 3 times over 2 seasons. Simply put, you play someone twice this year.....you only play them once next year. It's not rocket science.

The entire draw process is a joke. As others have said, they don't even pretend to make it fair any more.

And all this drip feeding of details to selected journalists further devalues the credibility of the process.
