Not sure where he'd be best suited for the Swans. Great to see some local talent making an impression at the swans!

For Kurnell, they went to train.

        Interesting article.

          A good attitude from Shawry.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Quite a detailed and a very interesting story on pre-season training. Not sure if this is part of a concerted effort to keep the Swans in the news but I reckon we've already had more to read about pre-season training in a month that we've had in total for the past 5 years.

Especially good to read that Veszpremi, White, Meredith and Bird are among those who've already shown a marked increase in their fitness.

Most people send an email with some photos when they get back from holidays. The Swans Media manager gives a press release and gets her run down added to this story...

The five guys (strange you would leave out Malcheski Liz!)mentioned in the article as having dramatically improved their fitness are the exact 5 you want to hear that about.

You can't help but have a good feeling about this year. With so much new cattle you'd expect a year or 2 before they start playing well together...but things are on the up.
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

Unbelievable....haven't heard his name since year six.
He was great at sport back then, a real all rounder.

Now I have a real...extremely tenuous because I don't know him anymore....but real nonetheless- link to the swans!

                        Woohoo!!
Is he good enough to make the 22? How old is he? Could he play half forward? Does he kick straight?

                          Today's news:

Swans track stars - Official AFL Website of the Sydney Swans Football Club

I particularly like the sound of this:
"Young forward Lewis Johnston has been another impressive early performer.

Like Malceski, the South Australian native has a point to prove after a foot injury ruined almost all of his first AFL season.

?A lot of his focus went on to putting on some size and some strength last year, which he really took on board,? Berbakov said.

?Going forward, he can really focus on his running because he?s managed to put on some size. Being a key position player, he needed to do that.

?Even though he didn?t play last year, it was a real advantage for him to be able to get that work done.?
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

                            And this -
And none has been more impressive than Nick Malceski, who looks desperate to atone for an inconsistent 2009 season.

Malceski, 25, managed just 12 games in his first full season after his knee reconstruction in 2008 and failed to find his best form.

But Berbakov said the silky skilled flanker had returned to training with a point to prove.

?If I was going to name a ?best on track?, I?d say Nick Malceski has come back in super condition,? he said.

?He was disappointed with his year last year and he knows that it?s a big year for him.
The more I read the m ore I think it unlikely that McGlynn and Kennedy are going to have an easy time of it....even Seaby.

Our depth has increased so dramatically. It seems alot of guys who were down on performance last year have seen some writing on the wall.

Expect to see the two's dominate next year.

Regardless of how fierce competition is for senior spots, the reserves' prospects are pretty much directly linked to injury rate. As soon as the team gets to around 12-13 AFL standard players (ie listed, even if unproven) with their requisite levels of fitness relative to the rest of the competition, they can be expected to win. Get closer to 15 or so, and it should become a walk in the park. For most of 2009 they struggled to get many more than 9 or 10 fit for any single game and too much was left resting on too many skinny 17 year olds.
