Smith has clearly stamped himself as a backman. People who doubt that should have a look at replays of second half games. He is our nominal small backman. He, White and Grundy were the real finds of 2009. Unless Smith completely loses form in the pre season games he will start in the backline and will not go into the midfield. It means that a few of them will get a run through the midfield. Roos has spoken about mattner adding some pace into the midfield and he could also do some tagging ditto for shaw. Nick Smith is also perfect for midfield rotations. Malcho can also probably rotate through the half forward line or wing aswell using his kicking as a weapon. It makes for an extremely flexible team having so many rotatable players.Comment

Accountability: that's why Malceski was out of favour. He never seemed to have a man and opposition sides exploited his lack of accountability. If his knee was an issue he should not have been playing until he got his confidence back.Having so many attacking weapons off half back is fantastic, however we have to mindful they all need accountability and that is what will get them selected or dropped. Roos demands that accountability.

People who think he is only a backmen clearly haven't watched him dominate centre clearances in the ressies week after week for the past 2 seasons.
He's proven himself a ball magnet who will move into the midfield rotation as soon as his body is sufficiently equipped to deal with the midfield rigours of seniors football.Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

I still like Jack in the last line with Bolts working from the other pocket.
Writing has been on the wall for awhile now - no CHB and FB.
Let's hope Grundy lives upto the hype!

LRT is the only Swan to make it into the list of the AFL's 50 top mark-takers. Maybe they'll drop him into the forward line so we can follow that old tradition of mark-then-kick-for-goal.Comment
