Choco Williams was just on the radio saying he believes the top 7 is settled, and Port will pick Butcher with 8. With the AFL introducing the concept of announcing the top 10 in reverse order, the suspense might be over after the first 2 or 3 names are announced.

I thought the drama came from watching the clubs plot their next moves. Especially when they've just seen their intended pick swiped by someone else. See Choco sweat! Watch Paul Roos break into a frown!

Do I sound too much like someone who's never even thought of watching a draft?

The clubs are meeting now, or close to it, to select the top 10 behind closed doors. Then the AFL will make a whole song-and-dance from it, and announce the top 10 draft picks in reverse order, starting from 10 all the way down to 1. The rest of the draft will proceed as normal.

Geez, I wonder who the first 3 picks will be? Duh.

Apparently clubs with top ten all have to submit ? and then on the telecast the top ten are given from 10 thru to the naming of the number 1 .... TV ... then all starts normally at 11 .... to 64

Given the #1 pick is set in concrete just about every year, I fail to see how this is more exciting.

The excitement comes around the mid/lower reaches of the first round.

That is a really weird decision IMO

Playfair did not nominate for this draft, so we can't pick him up in this draft. Most likely we will rookie him, or some other club will.
