    Happy 7th Birthday RWO

Just noticed that the 7th Birthday of RWO will be on 12th January. Doesn't time fly!

For those that don't know the history it all started with my yahoo group on 18th April 1998 and from there the great Des progressed us to RWO in 2003 with my blessing and thanks. From there on we now have other admins looking after the site and doing a great job (which is voluntary) as well.

Happy BD RWO may you continue to prosper in the years to come!

Think I logged my first post on RWO in about October 2002. I found it late. It's been a rewarding escape and a healthy place to vent misguided footy frustrations.

Thank you to everyone who looks after this site!

Trying to work out the timeline in my emails (which go back to 1996, sigh).

Ann started [email protected] in early (April?) 1998... At some point it morphed into egroups which then got bought out by yahoo and became [email protected].

We were on rivals.net from January 2001. At that stage it was Steve Daley and I. That year the RWO rivals.net forum gradually took over from Ann's list, though the mailing list hung around a couple of years after that - I have a couple of emails in my archives from 2004.

Even though the vBulletin forum here was first created on 12th Jan 2002, the domain name didn't flick over from rivals.net until around 28th Feb, so that would have been about the time of birth for RWO as you know it.

Then I ran it until apathy kicked in and I handed over to a couple of troublemakers whose names temporarily escape me in August 2006.

Not a bad effort, this little community.

Apart from the odd troll and John Longmire calling me to try and find out who was impersonating him on the boards, it's been pretty smooth to be honest.

        Long may it last.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

To Anniswan and Des - it has been a great outlet, to have a laugh, sometimes a cry and of course to vent a bit, but through it all, I have learnt alot and because of RWO I have met some fantastic people along the way.

So to you two who started it all - A HUGE THANK YOU - you should be really proud - your baby is growing bigger and stronger every year!!!!

And to the crew running the show now - you are tops too!

Thanks to Ann and Des for getting this forum up and running. Like Wardy, I have met some great people through RWO and have made some good friends as well. Our little part of the Swans family has provided me with hours of fun and at times frustration. I only found RWO 2 days after the 05 GF, and have enjoyed it ever since. Thanks guys.

                  Des, Anni.

Where does 'Swans Flying High' fit into the equation?

I remember finding that board in '99 and having a big barny with DrJ, arguing the merits and heart size of Dale Lewis

It was the old red background board with all the posts under each other slightly offset (I'm sure Des will know the proper term for that format).

It's my memory that posters from 'SFH' were the originals at RWO on Rivals before we came across to this style of board. Anni, DrJ (MtS), Reggi, Cher are some of the names I remember from way back when.

Des, did you post on 'SFH'?

The memory is fading on this one.

A big thankyou to all those helped grow RWO into what it is today.

I think I discovered RWO around this time, I do remember it being on Rivals.net and then having to re-register when the domain switched over.

Like Wardy said, it is still a part of my everyday.

I found redandwhiteonline through Luffy. No idea what it was about, but he mentioned rwo when he was doing announcements at the SCG.

I saw a little note at the bottom of a Herald sun page that had a list of websites to do with The Swans /Plugger etc. Thought I will give it a try and took ages to pluck up the courage to make my first post which was about a player being like Hamlet "to be or not to be?" as he was so indecisive.

Have made lots of real friends and virtual friends.. Thank you.

I miss Connelly and ROK Lobster. They livened things up.

Don't believe ROK has gone anywhere. Not sure whether Connelly will ever return - his recent absence is self-imposed.

I am still here, just not as often - mainly because I have been very busy with work/family the last 2 years or so and had much less time to waste (+ approximately 2/3 of my posts were in support of Nick Davis). That said, I am quite excited about the next year or so with the Swans, the prospect of change in players and coaches and plenty of kids to follow.
