Had expected them to rest a couple of established senior players, like Kirk, B1 or Jack.
It does seem to confirm that he's well back in the list, but so is Gilchrist I would have thought.

Barlow will want to set the house on fire against Essendon.

No Vesper as well as Johnston. They haven't ticked all the training boxes yet? I am just ho..hop..hoping that Ed actually gets on the field this weekend. Go Ed!!!!!!!!! Alas, I won't get to see him in action.

Yep agreed, i thought they'd be keen to get as many games as possible into the boys playing reserves given they already have a short season. Also suprised at O'Dwyer's omission given he would be on the fringe of selection. Perhaps the senior blokes will be given a rest next week??

I hope Dennis-Lane gets another pre season hit out.

I see your point, but I reckon I'd be trying to give my established players and my new recruits who are most likely for round one as much opportunity to play together as possible - especially in the midfield.

I would have thought that this week would have been the ideal week for a 'break', for at least part of the squad. Next week will be the last pre-season match before a mandatory one-week break, followed by Round 1. If senior players are rested next week, they would have 2 weeks in a row where they wouldn't have played, assuming of course they don't play in the scratch match which is usually meant for fringe and underdone players.

I had a quick chat with him last week and he was only starting back into running then. He said if can have some good runs and no pain after that then he will be back training with the squad.

Great news in that he's on the way back but for sure he'll have a bit of catching up to do. Foot injuries are one of the hardest to get through and he'll be worth the wait. He still does kicking and hand training, just got to get them feet right

I don't recall hearing that Vez had an injury problem. Did I miss something?

They will probably rest a couple of established players this week, so they will come out of that squad.

As for next week, it will be a full dress rehersal (minus Bradshaw) so the 25 in the squad will be the ones who are in contention come round 1.

I hope Dennis-Lane's injury isn't too serious because i was sure that he'd be a lock for our best 22 for round 1!. Anyone have any info?

I asked him at training a couple of days ago, and he said he'd be fit next weekend, and just hoped he would be selected.

Thanks for the inside info! I really hope they pick him because i think he'll look a lot better playing beside White and Bradshaw than he did against the Blues. I think he looked a tad nervous against them but i reckon that can be put down to being his first game and a bit of media hype following his 5 goals in the intra club. Bring on round 1!

If there is anyone from R&W (Larissa??) going out there to the game could you please watch to see if Stuey is running? I noticed he did the last two games (naturally, I can always spot a Stuey) and I was wondering if it is a permanent position. Berba ran for a year or so and he is now an assistant coach, so am hoping this is the same turn of events. Taaaa

Am up here in Sydney with my friend who's son got drafted to Essendon, he is no 22, I am excited for him but hope we win, Essendon think they are going to get smashed.
