That's the new political correctness in Melbourne. "Poor Baz, he's had to deal with shoddy delivery for years and now he's thriving in a team that can kick". That's crap. He missed a lot of balls that I reckon I could have caught - especially if it was after dark. Blind Barry indeed.

He's had a dream start. I'll be interested to see how Baz goes when he's towelled up by Scarlett or B2. Maybe Eade's zen-like calm will serve him better than Roos' histrionics. Or maybe he'll lose it.

I have to say that the more the Vic press write, the further I move from my desire to see the Doggies win a flag in the near future.

As said previously there are always going to be differing opinions on Baz and what happened last year. As for the "being hurt & will never be forgiven" by what he did - my goodness, if that is all the so called "hurt" some receive in their lives well how lucky in life are they? - but time to let go of the angst & that baggage - it will get you nowhere. Yes what Baz did was stupid, irresponsible etc, but was it the end of the world? of course it wasnt.
I'm sure there are many of us who have had a job that initially we loved, then after a few years the work model "ethos" wasnt so appealling anymore & the managers who you once respected, after a few years you couldnt stand the site of. Did familiarity breed contempt within the club?? Add to that the trouble he was having with women and he may have just got to boiling point - thats the thing we will never know. Everyone has a certain boiling point - some shorter than others.
I'm still amazed that people can absolutely cane Hall for his actions, yet the magnificent Tony Lockett, whilst at St Kilda, smashed our Peter Cavan's face and put him out for months and Cavan was never the same again. Tony had a tribunal record as long as your arm, various brain snaps etc, yet once he came to the Swans all was forgiven. I loved Lockett like the rest of you and he like Hall brought us all much more joy than angst. No one in thie life is perfect, we all have flaws (well Annie is the exception - and she will tell you too! right Annie)
Lets just wish Baz well and move on.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

No worries with your opinions on this issue, but I'm pretty shocked that you are amazed! Put simply the only reason we loved Plugger was because he became one of us and the basic reason why people have an issue with Hall is that he is no longer one of us (throwing in his headcase issues just adds to the angst I'd say).

Pretty normal part of the game I'd think and the majority of fans are going to react that way at any club regarding any player! Ask the Bulldogs fans who were chanting "Barry, Barry, Barry" what they were yelling at Barry last year.

The only players that generally escape that wrath are players that were never given opportunities or were traded against their will.

What happened to good old personal accountability instead of blaming it on the sheilas in his life, then lobbing with crocodile tears at his farewell. From all reports he may very well have known he was going to the Bulldogs.

          Best post ever!
Whatever our personnel feelings are on Hall, NO-ONE on this forum knows why he did what he did and blaming Roos, Kirk, the Bloods code, ex-girlfriends whatever is plainly unfair.
What we do know is that he had become, for UNKNOWN TO US REASONS, a burden on the team.
I am a SWANS supporter and he is no longer a swan, so therefore I no longer support him, just as i no longer support Schneider, Dempster or Jolly, and I now love previously hated players like Shaw.
In my opinion, and I'm certain that many of you think this is petty, Hall showed his contempt for the club when he refused to wear the team scarf when he was given the honour of forming the guard of honour for Micky, Leo and Crouchy last year.
As for the "best delivery" theory, as Go Swannies said, he dropped marks that I could have taken and when he did take the mark, we all had our hearts in our mouths that he would kick it cause (I don't have figures) accuracy was not his strong point.
The "Premiership hero" thing is getting a bit tiresome too, have we all forgotten he was bloody lucky to even play in the Grand Final and why was that? Because he couldn't keep his fists to himself and IIRC, there was no problems off field with his love life then to blame!
How about if he were the "HERO" in 05, then he was the "DEVIL" in 06 cause he was dreadful in that GF and good or bad delivery, his kicking was atrocious, i don't see too many on here bringing that up.

Well, that's my final anti-Hall rant, I've got it out of my system now, look forward to reading the scathing posts that will follow.

                  What about the EPL teams?
Most of them don't even have an Englishman on the field, much less a local!
But they are as fanatical about their boys as if they were all brought up in the shadows of their home ground.

I have a mate who is a doggies fan and a psychologist. Here's his take on the Doggies pre-season final & Bazza:

G seemed to think he kicked better than "normal". Keeping him "calm" is the $64 question really. I said to G you could see a few times he was a v angry man and G pointed out that this was on a night when he kicked 7 goals - you should see hime when he's got none!

(G is a Swans fan & RWO member)
Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way you'll be a mile away and he'll be shoeless.

I'm happy with him doing well and happy that he is getting positive media attention - why be otherwise? Sure, it would have been nice had he been able to stay at the swans and play the way that he played in his last couple with the Bulldogs, but that was never going to happen the way things were. He needed a change, and so did we.

Hall was at his best for us when he played as a lead-up forward. However, he was not that great as a kick-in-hope full forward exepected to take overhead marks - that was just not his game (particularly after the hands-in-the back rule change). Hall's value as a full forward degenerated to the point where he stopped competing (either giving away free kicks or letting the opposition mark the ball when he felt he was not able to mark it himself).

I will be interested to see how he goes against a determined opposition - Dawson had a really poor game for the Saints. Some of the marks Hall took should have been easily repelled. I would have been pulling my hair out if our backline had played like that. Hall would still have kicked some goals - you can't stop lace out delivery from the backline - but he would not have kicked seven.

Too early to tell whether it will be what the Bulldogs need - but I hope he does well (of course I still hope that we do better),

When Sth was first moving to Sydney there was talk of changing the jumper to a blue colour and calling them the dolphins or some such tripe (there was even a push for a green and gold jumper). I started looking for another team to follow. Couldn't believe they took my team away from me AND wanted to change the club colours.

Consider this ? if Barry had stayed for two more years there is every chance big Jesse would be headed for the Gold Coast. I personally would rather have Jessie. On form Barry was going to get the DCM anyway. We got a trade pick, Barry got another go. Better than nothing. Good luck to him if things work out.

BB is currently the new boy at the Dogs still enjoying his honeymoon. How will he be mid season after he has picked up a few soft tissue injuries (and he will, nobody can run into people that hard and not suffer some collateral damage) has been towelled up by Rutten or Scarlett, screwed over by the umpies and has had his first major blue with his lady?

The Melbourne press, the Dogs and their fans are blowing their horns way too early. The fat lady is still in the dressing room.
