I think people are jumping the gun a tad. The Hun article went on to say:

"Mitchell?s manager Phil Mullen, of Stride Sports, will meet Swans? officials and an announcement is expected late Monday or early Tuesday.

Mullen denied a deal had already been struck with the Hawks. ?People know more than we do,? Mullen said.

?We?re still in negotiations, we?re meeting with Sydney (Monday).

?We made an agreement that we would talk to Sydney at the end of the season, and we will do that.?
Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.

If he does leave (hopefully not!) I really hope we can get Bruest and a decent draft pick. Bruest to replace McGlynn in the forward line, Heeney to take over from Mitchell in the mids rotations.
I See It But I Don't Believe It!!!!

If we can't afford Mitchell, how do we afford another experienced player like Breust?

            I want draft picks

Correct, we aren't getting a player from the Hawks, it will be picks but they don't hold picks anywhere near Mitchell's trade value unless we are accepting unders just to get the deal done early :-( or we are actually in play for a player and need Mitchells cap space to swing the deal?

The next 48 hrs will answer all and Primmy may be off on a hunt!

                AnnieH,
Are you still confident that Tom will stay? Guess we don't have to wait too long to find out.

AnnieH could only relay what she was told by Tom himself. He could've been kidding, or lying. That's not AnnieH's fault. I doubt too many others who are reporting on this have actually spoken to Tom. We just have to wait, and if he wants to go, hope the club don't capitulate for a rubbish trade.

If we lose Mitchell then I will be amazed. Surely, we have a better class of stalker than Hawthorn?

I'm only going on what Tom said to me.
He's either lying or he's not.

                            HARLEY HERE
Sydney Swans GM of football Tom Harley has arrived and says the club has yet to hear from Tom Mitchell's manager. Phil Mullen.
"There's a bit of water to go under the bridge," he said.
He added that Dean Towers and Toby Nankervis remain required players.

If Tom lied to Annie then I'd be glad he's gone. The Swans are about honesty. We don't need liars at our club. I'd much prefer a player dealing drugs in dark alleys.

If Tom does go, I think Hawthorn's pick 14 would be unders, but in this draft we would still get a good player, perhaps a Griffin Logue or Jarrod Berry. We can easily cover Tom in the midfield, so wouldn't be the worst outcome.

Apparently the Hawks are offering a 5 year and 700k/year contract to Mitchell. I can handle losing him if we had to pay that much.
