    Next sell out at SCG

Watching the Lions game tonight, which was a sell out (biggest crowd in last 5 years) I was wondering if the Swans will achieve a crowd closer to 40,000 at the SCG this year. I don't think we will.

The so called block buster games have been moved to ANZ and even then against last years grand finalist we could only manage 31,300 odd.

Sadly for whatever reason are crowds at the SCG average way below 30,000.

I remember being at the Geelong game in 96 when the SCG packed about 44,000. Oh the memories.

I think our biggest crowd this year will be against Geelong. 35000. No crowd at SCG over 33,000.

    Thoughts........

The Sat arvo game against Hawthorn would be a chance if both teams are close to top 4

Can't see that happening with current seating/membeship arrangements. I didn't renew my membership last year and found that when you went to book a ticket a few days in advance that nothing was available under about $40, and favoured areas were all booked out. We'd urn up at game, or watch on TV, only to see empty seats all over the place. A full SCG is a thing of the past until we're playing big games there when we're in the top 4 again, instead of the wasteland.

What's the contract there anyway. I recall if there were a certain amount of games over 50,000 or sum such that an extra game would go to Homepus. With the recent low figures will it go back to the SCG or has that happened?

Regardless of the venue, the big crowds won't show up until there's a clear perception that we're genuine contenders again. We might get a decent crowd for the Collingwood game later this year, depending on how we're travelling.

Hope Roos is right about us performing better if and when the team gels.

Need Sheedy to get a controversy in the media like Sydney people will never go to swans games!!!!!! Western Sydney people will have better games etc. Get some big Swans headlines. Brisbane was sold out because of the Fev vs Carlton thing. Created some excitement.

Better promotion and excitement needed. Reason to go etc

Barry Hall and the Western Bulldogs visit in Round 21. I watched with interest as Arsenal welcomed Thierry Henry in a Barcelona shirt back to north London the other morning. He was cheered as he was called into action in the second half and he stayed on the pitch after the game to acknowledge the fans. Any chance that will happen at the SCG?

No reason why it shouldn't. IIRC even the Collingwood ferals gave Tommy Hafey a standing ovation the first time he coached Geelong against them at Victoria Park.

Regardless of the circumstances surrounding his departure from the Swans he was our premiership captain and that in itself deserves respect.

Too right, Sheedy does know how to draw attention towards AFL, and a bit of old fashioned rivalry rivalry, would definatley motivate Swans fans. Although, i don't see any chances of getting Sheedy to promote Swans.

It has happened - back to three games there this year.

I'm not sure that our crowd is always that bright; Schneider gets plenty of boos when he plays against us (which drives me nuts).
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

If we keep playing like we did today, and winning, the fair weathers sailors will be back.

Why would Thierry Henry be at the SCG?
