Rate where Kieran Jack is at

I really like Kieran Jack as a player. He is performing a good job as a tagger. What does he need to do to his game to take it to the next level.? I remember when Kirk first started all he could do was tag. He eventually became an attacking ball winner as well.

I think he needs to improve his kicking. Sometime he kicks dinky little passes that fall short of the man. Also can get bumped off the play a bit easily due to his size. Fix those and will be a long term player. If not he will get passed by the other smalls who have better disposal skills and pace.

Nah, he is going to be one of those J Bolton types, who has a bit of mongrel in him, and gets better year by year, slipping in under the radar. He is as tough as...

As for Kirky, he wasn't allowed to do anything but tag under Rocket, who never really had much faith in him. It took Stuey to plead his case to Roos before the coaches took him seriously. Another reason why Stuey is one of the loves of my life.

Kieran needs to improve his goal kicking. He then could use his main attributes of Tackling and clean hands to become a very serviceable goal sneak. Considering we have
a very tall forward line now he could be mopping up any spillages and keeping the ball in F50

Did Kirk tag under Eade? I thought it was Roos who reinvented Kirky by giving him a specific role to do - ie tag - from which Kirk developed himself into the hard-ball winning, tackling machine that he subsequently became.

IIRC Kirk was used on the half forward line under Eade.

Hmm I thought Eade had him as HF/Wing dont remember him tagging but Eade gave him such little game time hard to remember.

I thought it was about Jack's best game today. He has amazing fitness and was still sprinting late in the game. What we have now is a midfield without a weak line so our rotations are going to be much stronger.

Was pleased to see him kicking longer and hittin targets. He's developing very well. Stays composed, pretty descisive.

Really? I thought he was pretty ordinary. He used the ball poorly, didn't see much of it, and failed to keep his opponent quiet. He has played many better games than that. Not knocking him, everybody is allowed a poor game every now and then. This was just one of them.

My thoughts whilst watching the game, admittedly on TV, were similar to BSA5. Maybe not 'pretty ordinary', but far far away from his best game.

I'm a big Kizza fan, as ORB can attest from his ressie days, so I'm certainly not putting the boot in.

Looking forward to watch the replay of this game. I had the impression he was playing on Edwards (TV can make it tough) who had no huge influence, so I wouldn't say he was beaten.

You're right there, after I posted it I realised I'd got his and Jude's roles mixed up. Jude was beaten soundly by Scott Thompson, Jack broke even with Edwards, but it was far from his best game.

On second thoughts maybe I was a bit generous. The old last quarter sydrome where he got some good touches late in the game. His stats show he was consisent across 4 quarters, 8 contested possessions, 5 tackles but 38% efficiency tells a story. Maybe I noticed him more because he was in and around the action.

Kieran Jack did his job yesterday - Tyson Edwards was virtually ineffective , yet Kieran picked up important touches. No doubt he is being well schooled by Kirky who began his career in a similar fashion
as a tagger. No he was not our best player and no it was not his best ever game , but he certainly was very good. Go to the Adelaide board at Big Footy. Crows fans are calling for Edwards head

The secret of the great players is fluency & balance. Kieran at the moment loses balance when kicking at times and therefore sprays the ball. I think he rushes it when he need not do so which is a disease of the modern game. Again the truly great players know how to extricate themselves from trouble & are rarely under pressure. Learning to keep composure comes with experience for most players even the truly brilliant like Lewis Jetta. Kieran is not a brilliant player he is a talented one & as time goes by he will learn composure & by the way he did his job Edwards (normally the most effective Adelaide player) was ineffective.

Agree. Jack did a great job on Tyson Edwards who has given us alot of grief in the past. Jack ran the game out alot better in the end and had an influence offensively for us.
