I've just watched the replay as Sunday was just an exciting mess!
Our defence was outstanding. Hardly a free player across the ground. Right up to the final siren the pressure was on. Amazing.
Handy Dan Hanners was outstanding. He is quality and Kennedy really impressed me. Was that a tribute to the egg man on the banner?

The votes are in on the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year award.

      Adelaide v Sydney Swans
      9 Ryan O?Keefe (Syd)
      8 Ben McGlynn Syd
      6 Patrick Dangerfield (Adel)
      3 Mark Seaby (Syd)
      2 Adam Goodes Syd
      1 Jarrad McVeigh (Syd)
      1 David Mackay (Adel)

The AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year is the only award voted for by the coaches themselves. Coaches vote each week on a 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 basis. Coaches vote only on their own matches, but may vote for players on the opposing team.

It doesn't take very difficult maths to deduce the vote combinations that make up those scores, given we know each coach gives a 5,4,3,2,1. It is apparent, therefore, that Dangerfield got a 4 and a 2. Was that Roos being ultra generous or Craig being one eyed. The lad had a good second half but the game was practically over by then and he did almost nothing while the heat was still on. A pair of 3s wouldn't have surprised me but that one coach voted him more effective than either ROK or Mighty Mouse does.

Also slightly surprised that Seaby only got a vote from one of the two coaches. I would have thought he was clearly in the most influential 5 players on the ground, certainly more so than Goodes, McVeigh or Mackay (who had a good 3rd quarter but that was pretty much it).

Absolutely! Just add Bird and stir.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

            It would either have been:

            Roos: 5- McGlynn, 4- ROK, 3- Seaby, 2- Dangerfield, 1- McVeigh
            Craig: 5- ROK, 4- Dangerfield, 3- McGlynn, 2- Goodes, 1- Mackay
            or
            Roos: 5- ROK, 4- Dangerfield, 3- McGlynn, 2- Goodes, 1- McVeigh
            Craig: 5- McGlynn, 4- ROK, 3- Seaby, 2- Dangerfield, 1- Mackay

Personally, I can't quite see Craig giving Seaby votes and Roos not, while I can quite easily see Roos not giving Goodes votes as we all know Goodes doesn't tend to do well in the Swans B&F unless he's basically playing flawless footy. Roos marks him very hard. That in mind, I'm tempted to go with the first option, which would suggest Craig rating Dangerfield the second best on ground.

I've come late to the party so I'll just note that the Eski was a ripper - anyone have I50 stats for him? They must have been way up there. And the comparison with one of the AFL greats at HB rebound in MacLeod was stark. Especially liked how so many of his entries were straight up the middle (similar to Aaron Davey's fabulous game v Pies). This makes a huge difference to our game style. Nice to have you back, Nick!

Strewth Scott, I always assumed those tabs were just for show and there were only ghost sites behind them! Well played!

9 I50 for Mal for the statistically-minded, team high with McV.

Belated I know, but gawd bless my partner for being a gadget nrrrd and buying a TiVo. Rewatched the game tonight and really, really have a good feeling about this season.

... OK, not the most in-depth analysis, but ... such a good game to rewatch.
