    Dustin Martin.....

Really looking forward to watching him this week.

Given the Swans were reported to have offered up Gary Rohan AND Lewis Jetta for him, he must be some player.

At the time that trade was offered, I wonder if they had contemplated getting both Rohan and Jetta. It was widely believed, right up until shortly before the draft, that West Coast had their eye on Jetta with pick 7, and it seems they at least considered him with pick 6.

If the swans werent so ignorant and looked in there own backyard. they might have been able to snatch him alot earlier during his days at the campbelltown blues.

Given the expense, I guess it's hard to have scouts at every ground across the place.

How so? They were aware of him and were part way down the round of giving him a scholarship before they found out that he hadn't lived in NSW long enough to qualify.

I have it from a horse who very much got it straight from the horses mouth, and that is how they saw it playing out. Their desired draft board did at one stage go Martin, Rohan, Jetta but they never expected to be able to get both Rohan and Jetta with those picks. I was told that the view was that Rohan had the potential to be the best player of the lot (and of the whole draft), but was something of a high risk/super high reward pick whilst Martin was viewed as low risk/medium to high reward.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Yeah na ur right.... because he wasnt from pennant hills with rugby league roots and worthy of being a marketing tool. It just wasnt worth the time.

Dude, they knew about him. They knew about him ages ago, they thought they had a cheapy for the 2008 draft, but realised he was too young. They then wanted to put him on a Scholarship, but realised he hadn't lived in NSW long enough. There was nothing they could do, it was up to the draft gods.

How many games did he play for the blues? Was he any good for you?

Is definately a huge talent, their best player after three games. It was reported at draft time he did not quite qualify for the scholorship
