    Newbie Docklands Visit

    Hey guys,

    Im heading down to melbourne for a big 21st weekend. Staying at the vibe, heading to crown, but most importantly going to the kangaroos-swans game at docklands. next saturday (17th).

    Will the roof be closed? Or is it only if its raining?
    Where's a good place to sit? Is the seating 'close' to the action even in the grandstands or do i need to get tickets in the concourse?
    Will there be a reserves match on beforehand? Or is that just sydney that do that before their games?

    Also, I was thinking about dressing stupid for the game...
    Would it be too offensive to wear a white sheet (toga style) with a halo and splattered red paint (aka blood) all over it? Is having a troupe of blood stained angels going to freak people out?

    Thanks in advance to anyone who answers any of my inane questions!

      Generally night time or raining

      Where's a good place to sit? Is the seating 'close' to the action even in the grandstands or do i need to get tickets in the concourse?

      The seats are good, we sit on the upper level / wing, but towards the upper section can be far away

      Will there be a reserves match on beforehand? Or is that just sydney that do that before their games?
      No reserves, nor do they have those Brazilian dancers they had a few years ago in Sydney

                  Basically Etihad has 3 levels...levels 1, 2 and 3.
                  Level 3 is all gen admission, but you would prefer to be in the first 10 or so rows, anything after that is a bit far from the action, but still better than most grounds.

                  Level 2 is the priciest(most expensive) area, but the viewing there is absolutely phenominal, have been to around 8-10 AFL games there over the years and to a couple of A-league games sitting on level 2, there is no stadium in Australia with better viewing then level 2 at Etihad(in my humble opinion).

                  Level 1 viewing is obviously cheaper than level 2, but more expensive than level 3. Still very good viewing on this level, thats where I generally sit, doesnt matter if you're up the front(right on the fence) or a few rows back on level 1, its all pretty much the same in my opinion.

                  If you want my advice, pay the few extra dollars for a level 1 seat, sit on a half forward flank somewhere, and get a seat say...3-4 rows from the fence. You cant go wrong.

                  As far as dressing up goes....knock yourself out.

                      some of us are awaare of this, but for those who aren't:

                          I found that if you can get in the front couple of rows of Level 3 you can see everything and you are virtually right on top of the action.
                          Most of the crowd, however, will be at ground level and they might not even open Level 3 (remember Norff have bugger all supporter base).

                              Thats true, it is very possible they may not open level 3 for this game.
