At least the wooden spoon affords you ethics

Not exactly a big decision for Richmond.

It sounds to me that Cousins, McGuane and Polo are being punished for not looking after Connors, who by all accounts got blind. "Not acting responsibly or in a manner expected of them by the club" sounds to me like "How the hell did you guys not stop him?"

Cuzzie is s'posed to be there in significant part for his leadership (admittedly perhaps only on-field) and, despite his possessions, he didn't have much impact on Saturday night so I do wonder if he'll play many games this year. The Melbourne media pressure to have him dropped so they can blood some kids will only increase.

Any idea why Connors got eight? Seems a fair whack, must have been something pretty serious.

According to "Footy Classified" he was the only one that was drunk and when the others tried to get him to go to bed he took a swing at them. He had previously said he was off the drink as he has an alcohol problem.

yeah I read that too - but you know the media made it sound like Cousins was tanked and that he caused it all - when it appears the complete opposit was the case - and when it was announced on the news last night - the suspensions - loads said about the one week Cousins got, and just as an aside about Connors getting 8 weeks & the other two hardly a mention! Whether you like Cousins or not - I thought it was grossly unfair that he copped the wrap over it, when it was Connors who was the real culprit.

Also, Richmond must be in the money - to stay at the Intercontinental, they are seriously nice & expensive digs!!

They'd have been lucky to get back to the hotel much before midnight as it was.

If Connors can get to the stage where he is legless by 3am, he most certainly has a problem with alcohol.

I'd suggest he was not nearly as drunk as has been reported and it was much more a behaviour and attitude issue then a drinking issue.

Agreed, the fact thet Ben was there seems to stem from a sense of responsibility to his team rather than a desire for a bender.

Poor guy definitely gets a raw deal form the media-as has been mentioned on this site by others-I'd like to think we are better than those supporters that serve out the same treatment

Yeah, I bow to no one in my loathing of Cousins, but I agree he's not the real headline of this story and is taking a misplaced beating.

What I don't understand in the management of Richmond is why are they still playing to come last and get draft picks when Gold Coast then GWS have them all sewn up. Player behaviour is a reflection of culture which comes from the top. Sack Connors to set an example or sack the bosses and get someone who will set an example.
