big men
Have the Swans big men brigade ever been better? I rate Mummy and Seaby highly to carry the rucks, then we have White who can go for a run in ruck or take forward line throw ins.Backing up in reserves we have Currie and Pyke who both could fill in for injury.Oreal I don't know his status but in emergencies we could always use LRT or Teddybut I doubt it will ever come to this. What a superb line up of big men!Comment

Great story. Revealing comments on the Swans club culture.
I really like the Seaby-Mumford combination - such totally different players (and characters).
Next week's game against West Coast will be a beauty for the ruck contests. Dean Cox and Naitanui destroyed the Essendon rucks and midfield last night. Naitanui's athleticism is extraordinary - amazing to see a ruckman shark his own taps and send it inside 50 half a dozen times a game. The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible newsComment

A story on the other half of our dynamic ruck duo:
Seaby revels in new-found freedom - Official AFL Website of the Sydney Swans Football Club
Seaby said friendly competition with the former Geelong rookie helped to drive both players to better performances.
"I don't think my game time has gone up much from previous years but just the way we're having an impact is a lot higher than what it was," he said. The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible newsComment

Gets better every game. Very good second half when we needed him.Comment

Tony Shaw said at least twice today on Ch 10 that Mummy is a 10 year player. Obviously very impressed with him. I wonder how the Geelong supporters feel now watching him develop. In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.Comment

He's been really, really good for the first 3 weeks, but today left it in the shade. He was awesome. Disposal not perfect, but in general he looks as assured as any ruck we've had in the last 15 years, with the ball in his hand. And he is just off-the-planet good at competing for the disputed ball after the ruck contest.
He's played a grand total of 4 games for the Swans, and to my mind there is absolutely no contest about who is Sydney's #1 ruck. There's daylight between him and Seaby. And Seaby hasn't been bad at all.Comment

I am completely rapped for the Mummy played today and the ruck combo. Mummy was fantastic in the air and on the groud...loved his work around the ground. Brilliant!
The bizaar thing for mine, is just how 2 men from completely different backgrounds with completely different strengths have combined so damn well. Mummy was all over it against North who threw up 3 ruck options. He had some decisive tap work, won all the contests around the ground...he actually got better in the 2nd half which means he's fit, very fit.The Pain of Discipline is Nothing Like The Pain of DisappointmentComment
