Saturday confirmed why we were all excited about getting Bradshaw. He really was the difference - it also means there is much less pressure on Jesse to score goals, to take his time and really learn the CHF craft and that we can unblinkingly send Goodesy back into the centre square. What a gift to be presented with a player like that on a platter?
Jude and Kirk must be the meanest partnership since Bodie and Doyle - hope we can squeeze a couple of more years out of those hombres. North fans must hate Kirk - he destroys them every time.
Anyone else think both B2 and ROK might be carrying a little niggle? Both looked proppy at times but maybe that's just old age - I know I can barely get out of bed in the mornings...
Lovely start to the season somewhat tempered with the knowledge that we've beaten 14/15/16 - good news is we play 12 next week!Comment

Oh, and good to see others noting the "unique" umpiring (I like that term) in the 1st half. By the end of the first quarter had pretty much driven my partner, who had dutifully sat next to me on the couch to watch the game, out of the room by my mounting abuse hurled at the screen full of creative ideas on how to kill the umpires along with their families and pets and level their native villages.
Good to see I wasn't just being biased.Comment

I must admit that I forced my better half to watch the Mummy bump at a throw-in that lead to a free kick a few times so that she could share my disdain (and also confirm my theory that it would probably be acceptable in a game of netball).I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

Well, what an afternoon. I'm pretty sure thats the first time I've been to Etihad stadium in the afternoon with the roof open, was a different experience.
Got to the ground earlyish, around 1:00pm, met my mates there who told me he had a friend working in the North Melbourne social club(Melbourne Victory rooms on level 1)who would be able to sneak us in through the kitchen(which he did) and got to eat free food and drank free alcohol all day. Was very surprised as I wasn't expecting this until my mate told me when I met him at the ground. Nice.
Anyway, onto the game, thought the first half was an even contest, was also very surprised at how quiet it was seconds after the opening bounce.
Dont get me started on the umpiring. That free that was paid against Mumford in the 1st quarter has to go down as the worst umpiring decision I have ever seen in my history of watching AFL football. My god did I go off at the umpires over this once they showed the replay on the bigscreen( I think the alcohol had something to do with this as I am normally a pretty quiet type at games). Also, can some one tell me, as I have not seen a replay of this, was the free paid against Goodes late in the 1st quarter there. Didnt look like it to me, but I could be wrong.
Anyway, the thing I enjoyed most was Daniel Bradshaw, for years I have admired him when watching Lions games, to finally see a quality full forward tear it up right in front my eyes in the red and white was well worth going on Saturday.
Ended up going to the Collingwood vs Hawthorn game later on that evening....was boring as bat @@@@@.Comment

I flew down for the game and the first thing I noticed was how crap the North supporter base is.
Of the 23000 there, at least 15000 were Sydney fans and of the 8000 odd Roos fans there, half of them left at 3/4 time!
Now, seeing as I drive to all our games, when we are suffering our annual loss to Collingwood, I do tend to creep out 5 or 10 mins early to beat the traffic (and the smart ass comments) if we are 30+ points down, but they were only 3 goals down!Comment

I also noticed a t a throw in in the 1st Q (i think) Swans FWD pocket, were Seaby couldn't raise his arm high enough to contest the throw as it was being held.Comment

Just watching the replay and can't believe how good Grundy's goal was....I mean Mattner.
That is a pretty funny stuff up by Matt Campbell. That helmut head dark haircut and the nbr 9 they share in common makes telling them apart pretty tricky.Comment

We were on the other side of he ground, so couldn't see the "9" at all, so it could have been Shaw shooting for goial!!!Does God believe in Atheists?Comment

The Winners on Foxtel gave us both mark (White of course) and goal (Goodes surprisingly rather than Grundy or Hannebury) of the round. Wow - when did that last happen?Occupational hazards:
I don't eat animals since discovering this ability. I used to. But one day the lamb I was eating came through to me and ever since then I haven't been able to eat meat.Comment
