    Baby Swans Flying High

Actually the below is a really good match review by Rohan Connolly. He's stuck in the 80s, but he is not a Swans hater, one of the best game reviews I have read, ever really, just spot on

You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler

Yep, a great review of the game. Interesting to note another scribe putting J. Bolton in the best. A number have in other threads bagged his game but I thought he was pretty good.

As for Connolly, I've always thought he was, if not a hater, at least a disliker. I've often thought he never got over the '96 Prelim...

I wasn't reading Rohan Connolly in '96 but in the noughties I got the impression he was a bit of a fan, and greatly admired our hard-at-it approach when others (e.g.Andy D) were critical. He certainly likes what he sees now.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

        He's Jude's uncle, isn't he?

Nah. that is Martin Blake. Unless they're both his uncles...

Ah yep. Right paper, wrong writer. Thx for the fix Liz.

I think he likes us. He actually predicted us to be premiers in one of the pre-seasons prior to 2005, suffice to say that he was in the minority at the time

The umpiring really was very poor. Some absolute howlers that led to goals for both sides.
