    Lethal: Hannebery here to stay

A good write up from someone who knows a thing or two about the game.

I doubt Hanners will be flying under the radar for much longer.

Matthews knows his footy. Hannebery was very good on Saturday, hope he can continue to improve with each game as his experience grows.

He obviously has loads of talent, but it's his decisiveness, poise and balance, in traffic ! that is amazing for a guy his age. IMO, barring serious injury, he'll become one of the elite midfielders of the AFL, sooner rather than later.

Young Eggs would have Brownlow votes in Round 2, when he picked up the Rising Star Nomination, and again in round four with quite possibly a 3 vote BOG performance - prehaps he's an inaugural season Brownlow chance at this early stage?

I will have to go back and watch the replay again, because there are some brilliantly quick, instinctive and accurate handballs that are easy to miss on the first and even second viewing.

The one straight out to Bradshaw who missed a shot on goal from 50m is beautiful to watch!!

Can anyone name a more promising start by a Swans midfielder? I'm really struggling to think of a better one. Bird was good, but nowhere near this good. McV, Jude and Fossie took years to hit their straps. Schneider was a forward pocket to start with. And of course Goodes, Kirk & ROK were doing other stuff before they starred as midfielders. We have every right to get a little excited with Dan (tho perhaps talk of Brownlows qualifies as over-excited...)

something about his style of play reminds me of the rolls royce - young Harvey at the same age !

Good to see that the Dalai is being so positive. Not sure about Brownlow. THere were quite a few standouts against Adelaide.
I would think points would be going to McGlynn, ROK and Dangerfield above Hanners. That's a fine article from Lethal. He's been excellent this year. I am really looking forward to seeing how he goes against a more fancied midfield like Lions and Cats. WCE should be a good test too. Not just to see him on the same paddock as Nic Nat.

Be good to hear from his old High School footy coach too. He's going places, just got to keep a lid on the normal teenagers inclination to play silly buggers. He has a terrific future in the game.

If, IF he stays healthy and injury free then he'll be elite in 2-3 years.

A huge boost for the kid to get such a wrap from a legend. I love the way Matthews observes footy, both in his column and his commentating - he doesn't miss much.

I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
