I wouldn't be writing off the Dogs game - they're a bit rusty right now and Manuka is at worst a neutral venue for us, and more like a home ground.

We are in the top three, wont play the saints again during the home and away, Loins are in good form but so are we, I'd say we are at least on par to the Cats, Dogs we are playing on what may as well be a home ground for us. Yes we have had a 'softer' start to the season than others but it has worked for us, we?re three from four with two away wins, a key player who did not have a pre season has had time to gel with the team, the old guard are playing with skill and style, new recruits are proving why chose them in the first place
While we should never count the cygnets before they hatch I believe a quiet optimism is not unwarranted

Yes, we have beaten the bottom 3 sides but they were with margins appropriate for thoses teams. So when we play other teams we can have the confidence that they have to be at least 40 points better than crows, tigers and roos + our confidence. And with a bit of luck we would have been 4 zip.

It took him bloody long enough. I had a long conversation with him at a Christmas party over two years ago. He was adamant that the Swans were on the way down and wouldn't make the finals in 2008. We did and even advanced to R2. He knows the Swans well - a corporate friend has even sung the team song with him late into a birthday party - but he still has Melbourne blinkers that miss any talent across the border that isn't one Jon Brown.

So a month into the comp he's worked out that Roos isn't going to go out with a whimper but rather having a real tilt at finals and handing over a very strong team for Horse to take into the 2011 season. I hope Horse's first task will be defending our Flag.

Roos has given him a few over the years for his assessments of the Swans at the start of the season.

At least he's learnt to pull his head in quickly these days.

Past four games the Cats have played Essendon (won by 31) Hawthorn (won by 9 points) Freo (lost by 7 points) and port (won by 95 points) in the same span we lost one game by 8 points and won three by a minimum of 40 points each time, yes the teams are bottom of the ladder but the cats only real tough game was Freo and they lost that. Tack on the fact that we lost by only 5 points to them round 20 last year.
So yeah I would say we are on par with them

My memory tells me in the past 2 years we have beaten the Dogs in 6 of the 8 quarters at Manuka.

Trouble is, the 2 quarters we lost (the 2nd quarter both times) have been by about 20 goals.

He was good enough about it to admit on On The Couch that people (ie him and other Melbourne journos) had started to remember that the Swans were in the competition, and he said it with a smile.
