But by all reports it sounds pretty similar to what happened to Schneider a couple of years ago - from memory he was also on holidays at the time and was equally devastated to hear about the trade - given Bradshaw's standing within the club, yes I am surprised (about the lack of consultation before the trade). Still, to hear him say that he and Voss haven't spoken since, he must of taken it pretty personally. I know times have changed, but loyalty is still important in this game. It's what great teams like the Geelong and the Brisbane premiership sides were built on. You can't just abandon it that easily. We saw it with the Melbourne Storm players and how they responded when they played the Warriors after the salary cap scandal broke. Braddy and Voss will talk to each other again, but yeah I can imagine it would hurt.
Oh well - time to move on! I'm glad he's with us now, anyway, because the timing couldn't have been better for us! We lost two key forwards and a bloody good one happened to come on the market at around the same time. He looks like he's enjoying his footy more in the past couple of weeks, too - great to see!Comment

I think it would be quite daunting, the first game against your old club, especially if you had played for many years at that club and formed strong bonds and friendships. To suddenly have to switch your allegiances must be quite difficult. I don't know that a player can know how he is going to react emotionally until he actually runs out onto the ground. I hope Braddy is one who can focus on the football and not be distracted by the other stuff.Comment

I was flabbergasted Brisbane even entertained the thought of letting him go. obviously it was a bigger shock to Bradshaw. he wanted to move on from the game period until the Swans came along.

I don't think he was (trying to stir), it's a valid alternative view. Unfortunately sport is becoming more and more like a business these days.

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a great move from Voss, it was pretty cold. But the way Bradshaw just upped and left was equally cold, IMO, if a bit more understandable. Schneider was on holiday, got called up while on holiday to be told he was going to St. Kilda, but he copped it on the chin, and as far as I have gathered there is absolutely no bad blood between him and the Swans.
Bradshaw had every right to feel betrayed, but I don't think he handled it well. He could have asked Voss to trade him somewhere else anyway, so at least Brissy could get something for him, he has openly expressed the fact that he has issues with Voss in the media, which in my opinion lacks some tact, and just in general has probably made more of a fuss than he needed to.
Let me put it this way, if two years ago, Barry Hall had been put on the trade table for Bradshaw, deal was almost done, but a minor detail fell through and the deal was changed and something else was worked out, and Barry then turned around and said "you betrayed me, I'm off to the PSD", and the proceeded to stop speaking to Roos and subtly bag the Swans in the media, I'd be bloody annoyed and think he was a crybaby.Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!Comment

Beat me to it, I was going to bring up Schneider.

I don't think Bradshaw has subtly bagged the Lions in the media. He's been pushed for answers and has been honest enough to answer. Should he lie and say he's chatting to Vossy every day? On the other hand, Jon Browns answers reveal how unhappy he has been with Bradshaw being pushed out, even though he seems happy enough to play with Fev. Is that Brown being disloyal to the Lions? I imagine that it can't be great for team unity long term. I think Voss is a junior coach that messed it up. If it's not successful long term I expect there will be ramifications.Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!Comment

If I was a Lions supporter I would be disappointed too that Vossy even contemplated shafting Braddy. He was part of the Big Four, wasn't he.If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

Being put up for trade shouldn't have come as any surprise to an under performer like Schneider. And as I recall all Swans players were put on notice before trade week.
A better analogy would have been offering O'Loughlin for Fevola."As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk

A few questions...
How many of your ex-colleagues have you kept in touch with from your previous jobs? Chances are it's probably very few, even jobs left under amicable terms. I know plenty of people from past jobs that I "should" keep in touch with but do I? Not often, sometimes never.
Was Bradshaw best mates with Voss? I'm not sure. He's probably keeping in touch with several players from the Lions who he was closest to, but does he have time to keep in touch with everyone, especially someone who he feels disrespected him? I know where I'd spend my energy.
Anyway, this is probably one of those questions and answers that was reported in isolation from a much longer interview and far too difficult to read anything into. I can certainly understand why Bradshaw would not want to speak to Voss.Comment

Mind the Brissie fans don't see it that way - plenty reckon he was a sook about it all.Comment

The qn was put to Browny - "who do you prefer playing with Fev or Bradshaw?" Browny didn't even attempt a diplomatic answer, just uncomfortably looked away and refused to answer it.Comment
