When was the last time you contributed to a newspaper survey?
And was there a question directly related to Swans coverage?
I'm not arguing the relevance of Victorian teams in teh State of Victoria.
What I will say is that everyone (within the AFL, media and to a lesser degree the Swans themselves) forget about the vast number of supporters down here.
I will go on to say that when i open a peper to read about football in general, I have no preferenve to reading about Collingwood, Carlton, or any other team who isn't the Swans.
I enjoy reading about other teams - I mean we will be playing them at least once in the year.

Regardless, it's short sighted and counter productive.
I've seen the teams announced on the last two Thursday nights on Channel 10.
On both occasoions, the Swasn were not included.
I didn't count how many teams were, but it seemed like ALL the otehrs were. You start to feel as if it is a kind of personal attack, which is of course stupid .... - or is it?
At the end of the tems spot on the news they then say "and that's ALL the teams for this round"
Then I start to think maybe we have an early bye?

Anyway, reality vs our little dream world where we get information on all teams in a national comp.
    Guess we're not being real....

So is the Age, yet it has a much greater focus on interstate teams.

You just need a 6 x 4 foot table handy to read it

SEN was the only Melbourne station to cover the Sydney game. When it finished, almost every call - even to the game's commentary team - was about Essendon v Hawthorn. That's where the interest lies.

AFL got two pages in the Sunday Herald in Sydney today.

Big picture of braddles celebrating; maybe 1/2 page story to go with it.

Two stories about yesterday's games; an opinion fluff piece; the ladder; the results of the weekend so far; and the games being played next week.

This is virtually ALL we get. Even less if we lose!!
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Why do you guys in Victoria still even bother opening a newspaper to attempt to read about the Swans? You're clearly computer/internet savvy to some extent otherwise you wouldn't even be posting on here.

Pretty much any sports news article that appears in a newspaper on any given day has been sitting on the internet for a number of hours regardless.

As far as opinion pieces go, the likes of Mike Sheehan and co , when they actually write about the Swans, are only spouting stuff that most of you have known about the team for a number of weeks any way.

When I head back down there for a visit, I'll walk straight past the newspapers sitting on the table and into the computer room.

Of course, living up here and suffering through the NT News kind of puts you off reading newspapers full stop - unless you're into croc attacks and UFO sightings

Don't we want to true and stay away from lots of chest-puffing publicity? That is the Sydney way & this season it is working perfectly.

Top of the ladder and nobody is really aware of it. Let's keep it this way & catch the Cats by surprise on Sunday.

Just having a quick look online but it seems like there's no love again today - despite having the Match of the Round.

And last time I checked, the game hasn't actually been played, yet the likes of Channel 10 & Co have already referee to next weeks top of the table clash between the Pies and Dockers and assumed a 5-2 start for the Swans. Flying under the radar is one thing but comments like that are plain annoying!

Here's hoping we deliver the strongest wake up call to the footy world possible today!!
