good win, think injuries took their toll a bit, but was impressed we held on and won. I rate the lions pretty highly. I would like someone to give jetta a nice little handball in the goal square so he can kick his first goal, think if he gets that first goal he will be flying.

One of the best things this year is the continual rise of Kieran Jack, though i get sick of hearing he has a rugby background.

Gee we looked sore by games end. Bloody sore.
Rhino,Moorey,Kirk,Bolts,Tadgh,Ted,JK all really knew they played
Rekon Jetta had his worst game to. Somene said his disposal is ordinary ??? Dont know
who you have been watching the last 5 weeks, it might be a good time to give his a spell and
bring in Rohan against the CATS and BULLDOGS over the coming weeks.

      Well done Bloods !!
I know that Jetta is very exciting and has a great future, but maybe he should have a rest from the presurre of senior football for a few weeks. I got a feeling that for the Round 1 selection, it was virtually a toss up between Jetta and Rohan. There was too much a risk going for both. Maybe it is time to give Gary Rohan a run now.

Why? Why punish Jetta with demotion when there are others playing worse than he is? Why can they only play Rohan at the exclusion of Jetta? I think you need to back up your argument with some badly needed reasoning.

I think there is absolutely no doubt Jetta needs a rest and refresher at this point in time.

Was not anywhere near as many contests last night as the previous 5 weeks and as a consequence his disposal count was down.

Also the Foxtel long view shots from end to end showed a couple of times opposition players run past him to create an option coming out of defence and it showed he couldn't go with them.

A real luxury to have, but he looks like he needs a rest this week and ready to be brought back for the game against the Dogs where we will need his run and carry.

Who is playing worse than Jetta? Not that I think Jetta has been playing poorly - far from it. He's been excellent. But I don't think you can pick a Swan who hasn't been playing their role and playing it very well indeed.

Rohan will get a chance in the not too distant future but I suspect it will arise due to enforced absence of someone, not Roos' decision.

Kosi did it to one of our players in the first round.

The 2nd one on Jude was a leading elbow down low by Drummond that hit him right in the temple.
Yep they were a bunch of dirty cheating thugs. Not surprising from Voss' crew. Voss himself was less than a great man on the footy field in his latter years, and that has followed on into his coaching.

I think Jetta's problem is that he can't get up a head of steam on the SCG, simply because it's a short ground.

Last week for example, from where I sit, I watched him win the ball and take off, but then get forced to run wide, instead of straight towards the goals as he did in the NAB cup match at Blacktown. I doubt we'll see his best at the SCG.

I dunno, Willo and Crouch did alright on the SCG - though maybe they had shorter legs. The SCG is only a few metres shorter than other grounds despite the protestations of interstate fans.

It might only be a few feet shorter but it's much wider and if you want to go for a run it's much easier to go out wide. That's not what we want Jetta to do - we want him running straight at goals and letting fly.

Yeah, I don't really get the ongoing saga about the SCG being so small. It is about 20m shorter than Subi and Skilled and only 10m or so shorter than the MCG.

                        AFL Football Grounds

The SCG feels much more closed in than most other stadiums because it is completely enclosed by tallish stands and the ground level bays are quite shallow. The gap from boundary line to fence is also quite small. I think that gives the illusion that the playing surface is much smaller than it really is.

The issue is not the overall size of the playing surface; it's the fact that it's too short from-end to-end, and if you want to go for a run, you almost always are forced to run out wide because of the congestion in the centre. This is what's happened to Jetta a couple of times now. His leg-speed works better on standard size, longer grounds.

But as per above, the difference is only around 10m compared to the MCG and Ethihad.

That 10m or so makes all the difference in terms of congestion.

                                Backline

I thought LRT and Grundy did a fantastic job on the 2 best forwards in the game . Although thay got 4 goals each, their influence on the game was not match winning as they often are. 2 of Fevs goals were clever but very lucky . In the duels LRT and Grundy more than held them .
The whole backline is really going well and deserves more plaudits than what they are getting
