Last night I was pissed and thought "no, he didn't"

Recorded the game on Foxtel last night. Just watched the re-play. And at the end I could swear that Jason Dunstall said " it was a good/great win to the Saints. Please tell me that I am still "pissed" or he goes down as incompetent. Imagine calling a game for two/three hours and he did not have a clue who won.

Dunstall is so obsessed with Hawthorn that I am beginning to suspect he knows almost nothing about any of the other teams.

Sounds like you've never made a mistake in your life. Incompetence can be levelled at someone who makes constant errors and not one slip the tongue as is the case here.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

Fair enough slip to make, if anything it's more a shock that nobody pulled him up on it (haven't watched the TV coverage so for all I know somebody did).
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

It was literally the last line of the telecast and they immediately cut away so definitely no chance of anyone pulling him up or even him correcting himself - kind of annoying but just a slip of the tongue i'd say!

Slip of the tongue, which probably wouldn't be so noticeable if they didn't also get the player's names wrong so often.

Had a similar moment at the ground last night. Listening to the MMM call and heard Luffy go round the grounds with "Essendon 35, Bombers 19"...

He's paid bloody good money to commentate these games and I don't think a slip of the tongue is acceptable.
This call is hot on the heals of last weeks dreadful call where all the commentators, over and over again, called Jarrad McVeigh "Mark" and then Leigh Colbert said our club doctor was Nathan Higgins.
                          Sorry but no, unacceptable.

So commentators aren't allowed human errors because they get paid a lot.

If they make constant errors then yes that is unacceptable but a simple error should be viewed as just that. We are all
human and we ALL make mistakes.

Then I think that's perfectly fine, no reason to hang him for it.
