Proposed name change for Club Swans to Cazalys Sydney

Great to hear the club is almosts ready to re-open. Not so keen on the proposed name change though. Wasn't this supposed to be our club?

    Cazalys Sydney. Oh dear.

    CLUB SWANS - CAZALYS SYDNEY

After extensive repairs following damage caused by flooding in February, all areas of Club Swans apart from the function room are scheduled to re-open on Monday May 10.

The Board of Directors of CLUB SWANS is considering changing the current trading name from CLUB SWANS to Cazalys Sydney at the Club?s Annual General Meeting scheduled for 23 May 2010.

Cazaly's is much better than Club Swans. Club Swans was always a bit lame. Cazaly's at least sounds like it's a location, a pub, a place to go, rather than a Swans junior membership option.

EDIT: I should qualify that I don't think Cazaly's is a great name, just that it's better than Club Swans.

Cazaly's sounds like you could get a high out of going there.

Club Swans is fine for me. Cazaly's sounds like a Melbourne thing to me. And that's no slur on Melbourne - lived there for 10 years and loved it. (Blush - was a Hawks supporter then.)

Sounds more of a Cairns thing to me! Cazalys Cairns

I agree, it is old South Melbourne, not new Sydney.
Even Skilton would be a better option.

              Or even Kelly's Nest.

I think if the name 'Club Swans' is causing an issue with function bookings etc, they probably should just revert back to the old name of 'Sydney Aussie Rules Club'. Although, I think they may find that the fact they have been closed or going through intensive renovations more than they have been opened in the last few years has probably had the biggest effect on their operations, not the name.

Most people in Sydney wouldn't have a clue who Cazaly or Skilton were. They're better off leaving the name as it is, Club Swans. Even though I didn't like it when they first proposed it.

Isn't there a big registerd club affiliated with a footy side called Cazaly's somewhere in Queensland?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I'm more concerned about the damage caused by flooding in February. Did we play a practice game against St. Kilda there?
