AFL Canberra Round 5: Tuggeranong v Reserves

TBH I hardly saw him! Wherever he was, he certainly didn't dominate! Maybe CHF? I really don't feel at all confident reporting on this game, (my first reserves ever) the difference in standard from the seniors was VAST and the Hawks all looked so much tougher, bigger and stronger...?something to do with the Yellow and brown vertical stripes!
I was v disappointed in Playfair's decision-making at times, Bevo played forward and ran harder than almost anybody else.Comment

I was anticipating writing a lengthy indepth, consise, and informative report - but that all changed quite rapidly !! Probably started when we got detoured off the highway towards Bungendore because of a car smash and got to the ground 10 mins into the 1st qtr. Level scores @ that point so not too bad. We only had a bench of 2 players which was always going to hurt on a superb warm sunny day. Niggles and injuries during game didn't help - but NO excuses, we were terrible, no structure, no passion, no ticker! Currie, Bevo, Playfair tried hard all day, Dill McNeil hard at it, hands on the pill at most contests, must have racked up over 40 possessions, was our best? Others might have been good/reasonable for 1 or 2 quarters but not many for ALL 4 qtrs! Pottsy good for scholarships, Jay Lewis on and off all day with some sort of injury, M May no matter what level you play at, kicking into the man on the mark from 10 metres directly in front of goal just doesn't cut it! Toppies all so/so bar the big fella from Eastlake who shared some ruck work (D. DICKERSON 53?). Our delivery and kicking were woeful, our support non existent, our desire and 'want' very questionable. Lets not blame this loss on the players that were 'missing', but on the experienced players that were on the paddock not stepping up! Lewis J (Im sorry) was very very soft, uncommitted and a big let down! Credit where credit is due - Tuggers played with passion and desire, hit targets, honoured leads, connected many many foot passes, supported and ran in numbers and ran away with confidence in the end. Good on em! We need to base the rest of out Reserves season on fielding THIS calibre of side and getting it right, and if we get back experienced players well and good, but lets not rely on that happening week in and week out. Vespa you need to start being a team player, no rewards for missing 10 shots at goals from outside 50m, together with very selfish play all over the ground. Said way more than I should have. There's always next week. Sorry, one last thing, totally totally bamboozalled by the very sub par umpiring today.Last edited by grose40; 9 May 2010, 12:37 PM.Comment

Thanks guys. It must have been a horrid day if the one person that sid thought was good (Johnston) was castigated by groseComment

Thanks. It will be very interesting to see who was named in the best list. (Speaking of which, if any Swans employee is reading this, update the bloody thing!)Comment

Well after last weeks performance maybe he had an epiffany.....or everyone else was that bad. Glad to see it tho. I would say 18 months away......but I am only a girl so what would I know.
Interesting to note prior post saying LJ was being castigated. I find that Very hard to believe.......Unless he has raised the bar high on himself and was playing below parr. Surprised to hear that Stuey Dew was letting rip in pubic, I thought that was very unRoos like?
Thoughts? If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

The Swans are still missing a goalkicker. Perhaps the statsperson nodded off.Comment
