    Sydney brace for giant jolt

Interesting comments on White. Hope he goes well. So I guess Roosy was happier for Playfair to get smashed in the ruck

Interestingly the Movie on TCM last night was the John Ford/ John Wayne classic They were Expendable

I appreciate the logic on Jesse, although I'm not certain that he couldn't be playing that role as a Forward in the seniors.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Sounds logical to me, can't imagine it will placate the mob on here though.

Yeah I agree, the logic is there, but there isn't a rule saying he had to play ruck at all today.

Why the hell did they play him in the ruck last week if they are trying to think long term???? Especially when our full forward was either Rohan, Jude or Bevan!!!

He wasn't just dropped because they did not want to put him in the ruck - Roos also dropped him because he has not been performing that well this year - and therefore hopes that a run in the reserves will recapture his form as a forward.

If White had played well all year as a forward in the seniors, that is where he would have stayed.

Agree with Matty, it is as much about form as anything.

His tackling pressure was abysmal last week, not sure if he was just tired from his role as the backup ruckman or what, but he was the proverbial revolving door. He proved last year that he has the capacity to go back to the 2's and not drop his head, so hopefully history will repeat itself, he'll find some form in the 2's and come back refreshed and fired up.

White's been struggling all year. The club has tried everything else.. May as well see if a spell in the twos works again.

Ha ha, yeah, thank God Roos didn't admit that he may have consulted the three captains on this decision otherwise the @@@@ would have really hit the fan on here

Exactly. What's frustrating is that last week was the ideal opportunity to get White in form as the key foward. And he was needed there. Selections over the last few weeks seem reactive (at least to an extent) rather than folloiwng a plan that buids to a flag.

Stupid decision last week by Roos to play White in the ruck. I said to Big Al more than once I would have preferred to see Pyke play in the ruck all day and leave White in the forward line. At least then we would have had a target to aim for. It would have made Lake accountable, Jesse would have his confidence up and we would be looking better for todays game.

Sometimes logic is twisted. These guys are for more savvy than we are given they are closer to the players, but I have always found it hard to understand putting a bloke back to find form in the 2's, because no matter how many he bags back there he has to go back to the next level when he returns. My logic says play him in tandem with Bradshaw to get his confidence back at the level we want him to play. I thought he was supposed to learn from Bradshaw. After watching Geelongs 2 key forwards carve up Collingwood last night, I think why can't our 2 guys work like that.

I can't help wondering whether Roosey's game style is one key forward is the go to man. The only difference this year is it Bradshaw instead of Hall.

Confidence comes from actaully touching the football.

If White had remained in the side and picked up another 10 posession game in the seniors that would not of helped him or the team going forward. Playfair can play and get 10 touches and take a couple of contested marks.

If they are looking to play him into form, then going back to the two's and getting his hands on the ball 20 times while playing with a bit more freedom to do what he wants will assist him and us coming up against the likes of Hawthorn (with no key backs) in the next couple of weeks.
