        Oh Goodesy.
        Badsy.

Hey club ... if we play next week like we played today, I'm gunna come looking for a refund on my airfares to Melbourne next week.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

The best thing about losing today? It wasn't Teddy's fault. Nor Jesse's.

Haha Annie, I was thinking the same yesterday. Flying down Saturday, back Sunday...we better put in a 4 quarter effort against the Dawkes.

Disappointing as it was, yesterday's loss, surprisingly, didn't come as a shock to me - Freo have been playing som damn good footy this year and it showed again at the SCG, while on the other hand there are still a few question marks over us. Winning five straight was very encouraging (even allowing for the quality of the opposition) but we are not THAT good yet, and the injuries over the past couple of weeks have exposed our depth.

Not much went right for us yesterday, though -- others have whinged about the umpiring but I think it was more the timing of the decisions that killed us - if a couple of the 50/50s had gone our way and soft ones not paid to Freo it might have helped us get back into the game, but we were outplayed on the day. It was a bit like Collingwood on Friday night against Geelong, dominate play for most of the third quarter but don't put it on the scoreboard, opposition kicks a couple of quick ones against the run of play, basically game over.

Positives were the younger guys - Jetta, Rohan, Smith and Hanners. Jack was good again too. Oh and it STILL wasn't the worst loss by a Swans team to Fremantle that I've witnessed (that honour goes to the Subiaco game last year).

There are a few others also ROK has hardly got near it Pykey is trying to no avail, thank god for Jack. This just indicates what a "sh" job the selectors have done, I am beginning to think that Roosey was lucky to win the 2005 GF maybe Ross Lyon was the brains behind the team, Roosey should go back upstairs he may see things better. This as others have described is pathetic. Will be lucky not to loose by 10 goals.
This is a disgraceful post. No-one who is a true supporter of a team would think like this.

Maybe they would if they were just dissapointed with the performance? Don't be so judgemental.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

It is one thing to be disapponted with our performance but to claim that Roos was just plain lucky in 2005 is going a tad far. And sure, we lost but it was to a team looking like a top 4 probability at this stage and we were without 4 players who would most certainly walk into our best 22 (including both ruckmen), 2 more who would probably be in there, lost one player in the first few minutes of the game and one of our structurally most important midway through the 3rd term. We had three players out there with fewer than 10 games experience and another 3 with fewer than 30 games (two closer to 20).

For a team who's rightful place at the moment is probably around the fringes of the top 8, it is hardly surprising we struggled to compete with one of the form teams.

This is a very fair assessment but for me the dissapointing thing was the lack of spirit from the team when these tough decisions went against us and injuries occurred. Why argue with the Umpire? Have they ever changed their mind? To me the white flag went up too early. We should have ambushed Fremantle on our small ground in wet unfamiliar conditions for them with a relatively unknown team to them. This WAS a winnable game yet our early response was tentative. Coming from behind suited the boys more . I really failed to detect a plan or a ploy to win and to me the coaching was reactive rather than proactive.Unfortunately times have changed and you can no longer slow the game down by diving on the ball.
I really like the game of Jack,Smith LRT and Pyke and occassional flashes from Rohan and Hannebery. The game however demonstrated how much we rely on Goodes. When he has a day out like this one we lose badly.

not just goodes. all of our major movers are down. rok, jude, goodes, kirk, mcveigh. none of them look like imposing themselves at the moment and as roos himself said - its not a good sign when its the kids driving everything and your leaders are struggling.

it just reeks of someone who really doesn't have a clue on how this game is played. To say Roos was lucky is a disgrace. Another supporter who i would have no issues at all if they crossed over to GWS. Maybe GWS is a good idea as it will filter the real swans fans.

I have no issues with the side atm as i knew like any other knowledgeable swans fan that a top 8 finish this year was a bonus. Yes it was a little surprising seeing us 1st after 5 rounds but the slide as we played the good sides has not come as a shock. I am happy to be where we are with the future than say someone like richmond who with the concessions given to the new sides next year are in MASSIVE trouble.

The past three rounds were not that disappointing as we have lost to three very good teams. The disappointing thing for me is that the brand of footy we were playing for the first six rounds, a fast, skillful, exciting game, seemed to have been abandoned.

Now i know this is because playing better teams they don't allow you to play how you want to play, but it appears as though they have stopped trying to play like this so much, and have reverted to a far more scrappy stoppage based game. I think the game is far too quick today ( as opposed to 2005) to be able to rely on that game style to win. The only exception i can think of is St. Kilda ( against the dogs) , but they are a far better side than us.

The greatest thing about watching the swans up to round six was not that we were beating average sides, it's that we were playing exciting footy, which for a swans fan ( you all know what it's like, copping it about playing ugly, sh*$ brand of footy), is exciting !

Also, the big Mummy wil be back this week! His inclusion will be a massive in for us, his clearance, pressure and tackle work around the ground is phenomenal for a guy who looks like he doesn't half mind a pie or six.

I think McGlyn finding all that space and kicking bags in the first three rounds made us look slicker, we didnt have a player in the past who could find space willy nilly like McGlynn has. It's no coincidence that since he has been injured our run has stopped. Now i am not saying McGlynn was the sole reason but he was a big factor that allowed other plays to play their natural game. Now with a few injuries we look slow as we don't have the personal to play that attractive attacking game.

And on the plus side playing this dour defensive game has helped us not get absolute flogged - bar the cats game.
