    Let's kick some goals

The recruiters got it right when they secured Bradshaw and TDL for the Swans 2010. We had all the ingredients of a gutsy, hard at the ball side that could graft a win Corolla style but definately lacked finesse in finishing. When White showed he could find the majors late last year he achieved pop star status overnight we were so missing that skill! In the first 5 matches with Bradshaw in front,White at the side and McGlynn popping up in the forwards,we looked good.

So I am confused that given we had the right recruitment policy,we have done nothing to develop TDL during Bradshaw's absence. We clearly lack a finisher now.White has not lived up to expectations and McGlynn ,like Bradshaw is injured. TDL was the other polished goal sneak we recruited yet he sits in the reserves while others kick point after point when we need goals. Meanwhile we develop a defender(Heath) and give him a 2 match experience at a time when we have nobody who can kick a bag of goals. IMO,when Bradshaw was injured TDL should have been brought into the side and given a 2 match chance too. He should have been told to lead and create a target in the 30 metre range where he is deadly from any angle. He can also crumb a goal. This experiment could have worked because this kid only needs 3 touches to get 3 goals but he needs the team to back him and find him by hand or foot. My point is ,he is a proven goal sneak....why are we not developing him and using him??Opportunity lost and poor player management in my book.

Certainly TDL will still have an oppurtunity at some stage , hopefully it is this week. Heath's done okay and its not going to shatter his confidence to send him back to the two's, like he said he didn't expect to being play senior footy this year at all especially after having done his kneee last year.

TDL was named in the squad VS Hawthorn so we know he's close to selection, hopefully this week will be his turn for a run of two matches. Only problem is Bird may return as well. Who else could we drop? It would be a bit unfair on MOD to drop him after one game, but who else could make way really? Unless one of the struggling veterans needs a rest

Didn't White kick 3 goals from a handful of touches on the weekend (whilst not living up to expectations)?

I kid, I kid... I would have liked to have seen TDL in over Campbell Heath, that said I think the decision was probably more a developmental than match day one whereas the TDL argument is a match day one... I'd like to go with the match day one
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Had TDL not injured himself in preseason and missed the first 5-6 rounds i'm sure he would have come under consideration

i think they would love an in form TDL to force his way into the side once he hits full fitness and finds some consistency. 7 one week then 0 the next s not enough to push for selection.

TDL missed a bunch of footy, and has had one good game in the reserves and shown flashes but not much else otherwise (going off reports, that is). I know we all want our version of the JPod, but let's be sensible. He needs to perform in the reserves before he's elevated.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

              Correct.

He has only played 2, maybe 3, matches in Sydney back from injury. In those he put together maybe two decent quarters. He was near invisible for the first 3 and a half quarters of one game. Now I didn't see his 7 goal effort in Canberra, but usually 7 goal efforts are pretty good, so kudos there. But from what he has shown, at least in matches played in Sydney, he is a long long way from our saviour at this stage.

I'm really not sure those who haven't seen him in the flesh realise how slight he is. Talk of being a replacement for Bradshaw, Playfair and White are way off the mark. He is a Paul Medhurst/Angus Monfries type leadup player.
Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09
