I am trying to stay positive, but you know what, '.....it is a case of been there, done that. Far, far too many times in the past five years I have read these unrealistic messages of delusional optimism about Sydney beating Collingwood.

Sorry guys, it ain't going to happen in 2010, there is no if's, but's, or maybe's about it.

Collingwood as per usual will be intensively putting the pressure on the Swans; tackling like it is there last game of footy; lapping up the big Homebush crowd and occasion. Thomas, Didak, Meadhurst will all by skipping about kicking goals all night. Sydney will in the 3rd or 4th quarter bridge the gap from 40 points to 15. The crowd will get excited. But of course, as usual, it will be too late. Collingwood win AGAIN, this time by 19. Boring!

It will be like watching a multi repeat of one of those really bad TV shows.

Because some supporters have the audacity to be positive about their footy club doesn't make their views delusional or unrealistic. Your entitled to your pessimistic view but please don't put down the views of those who wish to be more positive.

Thats been the case for the past 5 years BUT there are new players who will be a little unknown to the pies coaching staff, even though studying these players in the next week will help, they havent played against them yet. And mumford should give Jolly a lesson in the ruck. These factors are keeping me positive, as well as todays draw! Draws in AFL are just as bad as loses cause now they are in the unknown and that puts some doubts and all that in the pies minds.

A win today would have seen us beaten by the pies IMHO.

And i really hope roosy and co paid extra attention to the way the dees attacked from kick ins. The pies didn't know what to do. They have two weeks to get it right!

Yeah, we will get thumped again. Goodes to kick another 1-5.

we are talking this down, top40, so that we don't jinx the game, aren't we?

I'm not being personal here, just sticking to cold hard reality.

I am certainly happy that there are some of us, (afraid not me), who will, in the lead up to the Collingwood game, feel positive, and be thereafter cheering hard for a Swans miracle for all 2 hours of game time. Good on them, the club certainly needs them.

Alas, without sounding self-depreicating, and without putting down the view of those who wish to be more negative, if we were all wet blankets, (a la your's truly), it would be a pretty flat atmosphere at Homebush 12 nights from now.

So more power to the "positives", (but try not to get too disappointed come 10.30pm that night)

The last time we beat Collingwood Paul Williams was running around in red and white along with Nick Davis. These two ex-pies were certainly instrumental in us managing to beat them. Not least in adding a bit of spice and drama to the contest.
In the intervening years we haven't really had the 'x' factor to give us added incentive to lift and compete. Is Jolly in the black and white enough?

Where's the fun in that? Besides, since it hasn't happened yet, there's only potential. Reality is yet to be created.

I can't see how it could possibly be unrealistic to think that the Swans can beat the pies, otherwise why would they even bother playing a game?

I personally don't expect to win, but to say we have no chance is illogical. It's going to be worth the trip to the game just to see Jolly get a cleaned up by Mumford.

                    Go the Swannies.

I was not going to go to this game for the alternative (I won't say negative) reasons given previously.

However I will go now. It is a different team and a different midfield. The 4 losses we had was with a depleted team and now the players are coming back in. Sure we might get flogged and Roos will again blame the players and not the game plan BUT what if we win? Some here are expecting a loss so what do you have to lose?

If the team gives it a "red hot cliche go" and we are beaten by a better team, so be it. I just hope that the Swans aren't forced out to the boundary because we tend to implode. We have the run and better players to copy what the Dees did today.

I really hope we see McGlynn go to Didak.
He really got under Didaks skin when he played on him in the Hawthorn days.

                        Smith to Thomas or Pendlebury.
He's been taking scalp after scalp and these are the two keys to the Pies.

Mumford to smash Jolly - with some help from an unappreciative crowd.

Jolly was on the Couch tonight. He said that playing for mugpies that they are a much quicker team than Sydney in that they move the ball around the ground much quicker. It was false that Taubin (?) helped him this year with his form. He said he left Sydney because he had a young family and didn't have any other family to help. Boo hoo what a lame excuse.

He was looking forward to playing the Swans.

He said that he recently had a spiritual experience. He was out walking and a large cloud appeared above his head. A booming Charlton Heston like voice said to him: "Darren why have you built this large Ark? I'm not going to make it rain for 40 days?"

Darren meekly looked up to where the voice had come from and said: "God that's not an Ark, that's my wife"

Now we shouldn't boo Jolly. I would yell "hen pecked" every time he touched the ball.

If anyone can help us beat the Pies, I reckon it's McGlynn becuase of his ability to shark goals and Mummo for being a legend already.

Interesting the Pies drew with Melbourne today. One of the commentators said on Friday night he expected upsets this weekend, like in rounds 21 or 22 when top clubs take their foot off the accelerator and lower clubs put in the extra effort. I'm not reading much into it. The Pies are a potential grand finalist. We're not a even a top four challenger at this stage.

They have had way too much run for us in recent years. McGlynn Bird Kennelly back will really help. Would like rhyce Shaw's run but worried he will have a brain explosion against his old club.
