They also said Geelong made the wrong call in getting rid of Mumford instead of Blake. No-one wanted Blake and we offered Mummy an offer he couldn't refuse. Geelong wanted to keep him.

Hutchy said on 3 or 4 occasions last year that our list was in a shocking state.

    Ordinary show.

      Last...year?

Don't get it up in Sydney anymore, thanks Ch9, but I do recall Hutchy and Caro (Barlow's biggest fan) duking it out over the state of our list.

FC is a troll fest, beginning with queen troll caro. The only guy i can handle is GT and even then he annoys me cause he aint controversial enough.

They get a lot of things wrong on that show, Gary tipped the crows to win the flag, Hutchy dissed freo all last year and kept harping on about us needing to btm out to be good again in a few years, Caro keeps slaggin aker at every possible turn. The show is the pits.

Just watching these footy experts makes you realise how over crowded the footy media is in melbourne. Anyone could become an AFL expert in melbourne atm.

That's a strange statement to me; I've been fairly critical of the coaching staff and selections over the years, but they did an amazing job last off season of revitalizing our list and my hat is off to them. As much as I don't want to say it, I think the addition of Braddy for 3 years is the only thing you could really question given his knees.

          Just from the game on the weekend we had the following 23 y.o. or under guys play;
          Bird, Craig (37 games)
          Hannebery, Dan (16)
          Jack, Kieren (58)
          Jetta, Lewis (11)
          Kennedy, Josh (24)
          Mumford, Shane (30)
          Rohan, Gary (5)
          Smith, Nick (20)
          White, Jesse (30)

That's 9 guys who are getting to be part of victories NOW but still could play another 7-10 years for us (10+ in some cases) if you base it on playing until they're 30.

          Guys who are 24-27 that played on the weekend;
          Bevan, Paul (111)
          Grundy, Heath (57)
          Malceski, Nick (79)
          Mattner, Martin (155)
          McVeigh, Jarrad (134)
          Playfair, Henry (67)
          Pyke, Mike (13)
          Roberts-Thomson, Lewis (129)

So another 8 guys that could play for another 6-3 years.

We're dad's army in the eyes of the footy world still, but the reality is we just won a game playing 17 guys who were 27 or under, and nearly half of the guys were 23 or under.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Just shows Hutchy knows bugger all about footy north of the Murray. Not that he needs to know much really, he dredges up enough fluff in Melbourne to keep him on 9's payroll (they must have money to burn).

I wouldn't take what hutchy says to heart, not many people respect him at all down here. And most of the time he gets it wrong..as caro said to him a few weeks back "I am a journo as oppose to you craig, who is just a content provider" or similar. You should have seen hutchies face...priceless.

That's a very good way to look at it. It could seriously come together still this year or certainly next year into something special. You would think the only thing missing is one or two more top class KPP, particularly forwards, but if Geelong can do what they've done with Mooney & Hawkins, maybe a KPP is not so critical anymore anyway.

Yeah, last year - have edited my post. He got out of it before the home and away season started by saying we'd done a good job with the list. The reality is that he had no idea on our list last year. He still gives it to Caro about Barlow. Arrogant germ that man.

Ahhh, I thought you meant he said it in the last show and I thought it was puzzling! Last year it was a bigger mess than this year, IMO

No doubt we needed to change some things and we had a great off-season but he had his mind made up. His view was that because we'd been around the mark for a while, we had to go to the bottom. He had virtuallly no knowledge of any of the kids on our list and this wasn't just a once off comment, he made sure he voiced his opinion on our list whenever he could.

Lots of people think Hutchy has no depth!
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Anybody that has seen him in the flesh, however, would know that he has ample "depth".

So....if what I am reading is right, because these people "know nothing" about football, Bolton wasn't fantastic, Mumford wasn't amazing and Rohan won't be the bext player in the comp in 5 years???

What about sticking to the topic.
