Roos had already changed Sydney by the manner in which he'd won the coaching job. The Swans had wanted - and apparently signed - Terry Wallace. The fans rose up and demanded that Roos, the caretaker, get the gig. Sydney had never seen such a display of people power. It was a watershed moment in which the members and supporters asserted their ownership of the club.

What about Benny Matthews?

Mathews was a very good player at his best, including in 2005. He faded quickly, but he was still a quality medium defender for many years. He was a very important part of our Premiership side.

I really hope that you are being sarcastic.

I think it was more to do what the players wanted and then the fans, overall, not just 50, that swayed the decision. Plus the reaction of the players at the end of that Richmond game.
